I just can't wrap my head around high end folders like ZT, Strider, CRK, Emerson, Medford all using this clearly problematic locking mechanism. Please, Makers, get over it and start making high quality knives using sound engineering principles.
Just because it is not easy does not mean it should not be done. Passion in what someone does is part of that. All the makers above have just about mastered the framelock design. While there are occasional instances where failure does happen. Most are rock solid, easy to operate and just gorgeous due to its simplicity. While there are so many factors to manufacture this lock type perfectly. The maker's you mentioned get it down 99% of the time. Which can apply to just about every other lock type. And most avid knife user's can tell if they have one that is. If there is an issue most warranty departments will fix it and R&D will work the bugs out. That issue is also why I wait a year after production usually to get a knife I like. Im not sure what you are getting at. But every lock has a weakness and there is a knife out there for every user. I use a knife to cut and pierce with a solid grip. A framelock is ideal for me. Ive had back locks, tri ad, liner locks and many others disengage just due to grip.
I am starting to ramble . All are works of art. I appreciate every design for what it is.
