Heavy duty folder

So broken skull or bush ranger? I like the look of the broken skull. At this point it seems like cold steel is the winner, but I just need to pick one.
The BSkull is the better cutting tool and carries only the pocket better.

The Bush Ranger can baton through small wood rounds, but won’t win any cardboard slicing contests. It will bash, pry, and generally take more abuse.

Both offer the well proven and sturdy Tri-Ad lock.

Please provide the link for the well used knife thread; really like to see well loved knives.

Here ya go! It’s not that great of a thread, but I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks, I have quite a few more that are not in that thread. Excessive by some measures, modest by others. Nothing too fancy though, I tend to stay well below the $200 mark.

There are several members here that have collections that are incredibly awesome and diverse.

There is a lot of good folks here with lots of experience and knowledge.

BladeForums is a pretty neat community.

Broken Skull I've used a lot to cut green overgrowth away from hiking trails. It's a great cutter and has good leverage with it's length. I took the clip off the orange and carry it in a belt sheath, hardly notice it's there until it's needed. The light grey model I bought for backup is still nib, in case it's ever needed. BS made it into my permanent rotation for trail carry. Many heavy duty overbuilt folders didn't, because they don't snap cut with authority on green overgrowth.

I have nearly all the knives mentioned in this thread and just bought the SOG. I'm pretty taken with it because it's very heavy duty, but what I absolutely love about it is, you can literally open and close it one handed in two seconds.

Now you are having me add SOG to the potential knives. There are just so many options now!

I like that you stay below the $200 mark, although since I’m new I did buy a couple over that mark because I’ve bought mostly American made knives at this point.

I’m gonna go against the collective Cold Steel bandwagon. Get a Buck Custom Shop 110 with the S30 V Drop Point blade. It’s quite beefy and feels great in the hand.

Oh, a Buck 110 is definitely on my list of knives to get whether I go 440c or S30V is to be determined, but I don’t see how any knife enthusiast could go without a classic knife like the 110. I get there is no fidget factor, but it’s just a classic American made knife.

Buck 110.
You won't feel the weight on your belt.
S30V and a variety of handle materials are availabe in the Custom Shop.

If you're concerned about weight, get the 110LT. FRN handle, but still a rugged knife.
The Slim series of 110 would also be an option. the Slim Pro's have upgrades steels.

Depending on your budget the Marksman is also worth a look.

I do like the 110, but I think I want something longer than 3 3/4 in length.

The Buck 110 does have a fidget factor - it spins. It is balanced and beveled just right so as to spin when closed and resting on its back.
Not unlike a Zippo lighter, the Buck 110 is part of Americana and a must have.

It’s 100% on my list

Anybody ever try the Spartan blade Astor?
I just picked one up. It’s a very nice knife with excellent construction. Unfortunately, it’s not nearly as robust as a few of the Cold Steel knives mentioned in this thread. There is only one liner on the (liner lock) locking side. It’s definitely a keeper for me though especially at the asking price.
