heavy duty folders for edc

....But it is heavy for its size .

Yes, aren't they? I dislike pocket bricks. Blades thicker than 0.150" or so have very little use other than heavy-duty. They generally do NOT slice well; they drag your pants down....try to slice a tomato with one of them.
For my daily "casual" carry, I prefer 1/8"-5/32" thick spines, with bevels about 30 degrees inclusive.
Remember that Sal (Spyderco CEO) personally designed the MILITARY with a 4" blade of 0.145" thick, and only 4.2 ounces. Soldiers and cops love 'em. That should tell you something...
My personal limit in any folder is five ounces...and that includes CRK's Zaan and large Sebbies so I'm all set.

Pocket bricks don't pry better unless they have reinforced pivots. Pry bars are cheap and safer to pry with.

I'll second the Cold Steel Recon 1 Tanto or Ultimate Hunter if you're doing some prying. Both are more than tough enough, but still offer good cutting geometry.

I'll second the ZT0550. I have one and it will slice a tomato. It will slice a really ripe tomato. It will slice the finger you're using to keep that ripe tomato from falling apart. Because it's stupid sharp. However, I basically pry apart watermelon rinds with it because the blade is very thick.

ZTs are nice, if you don't mind spending the money. If that kind of money for a knife offends you in the same way someone using their folder to pry offends you, get something else. Life is short enough that I'd rather not listen to someone else preach about how I made the "wrong" decision and am now damned to knife hell

It's only a knife.

Lot of blade on the 0200. I find that the 154CM sharpens up incredibly well. It's obviously not a slicer like a Spyderco Chaparral, but it's stout. It's a liner lock, though. Some people prefer a frame lock.

my EDC heavy duty knife is a Rough Rider large sunfish. My job requires any knife I use to "not look like a weapon" which eliminates all modern tactical knives.
