This is bigger than your average hawk 
if you want a hawk to process wood around the campsite this would be it..This axe is forged from a 1 1/4" bar of 1060 steel..The cutting edge is a 3 3/4" wide, the head is 7 3/4" long..Edge quenched in Parks 50 and double tempered....The hammer poll is also heat treated like a regular hammer..The hammer poll is big and beefy...Filework on spine and belly..
The haft is straight grain hickory. Stained, sealed with boiled linseed oil and finished with wax..The sheath is made from 8oz leather..Tooled and hand stitched..Copper saddle rivet holding strap in back and a brass snap in front..Nice snug fit..
