I finally got time to fit the kydex liner in my Spec-Ops Survival Sheath for the Heavy Heart. The fit was too tight without some cutting work though - there's just not enough room inside the Spec-Ops sheath for the blade and the full liner. At least not in mine; maybe in others that are stitched a touch looser.
I cut the side (for the spine) out of the liner with a small saw blade on my Proxxon (like a dremmel but better). Next was to heat it up with a heat gun and thin it a bit where the edge would go - otherwise it still takes up too much room in the sheath and makes for a too-tight fit. Finally, a bit more taken off the cut side with a craft knife and it fit just right.
Only issue left is to fix the liner into the sheath again. The blade now projects into the fixing hole and touches the screw, so, can't use the screw. Not that I'm worried about damaging the blade, more worried about cutting the screw in half!
I've not decided yet whether to tie some paracord through the hole and around the bottom of the sheath through the webbing loop, or use some glue. The glue is more permanent of course, but would be much neater. I like neat. Hmmm... decisions, decisions...
Edit: Liner fixation now solved, on page 2.
Anyway, here's some pics:
