just grabbed one on the exchange, thx snafu, and was wondering about these. full name is the heavy heart fusion steel heart, correct? i know there are many models varying in thickness and such.

fusion refers to the handle shape, like the tac in sjt?

when were these first introduced? and these came after the ergos? not concerned with original pricing, i am happy with the price i paid.

You are correct on the name. I think that FSH may have simply been left off to distinguish it from #4 in that post, which is just FSH. And #1 is also different -- it is a HOGFSH.

Congrats on your score. I have one, paid about the same as you, and know you will like her when you get her.

how many steel heart models exist? i have seen sh-2, ergos, fsh, hh, hog, sh, seems like alot. anyone have them all?

Don't forget the SH-1, Bird's Beak and the variants. Randucci, Rat-30, Mulder, and Eric seem to have the market on Steel Hearts so they should be able to provide more info than I can. :)

I don't know how many there are altogether. The HH FSH is the only one I have and, while I don't know who, I am almost positive that at least one person here probably has all of them. I don't think they're as popular as say a mean street or NO, but they are among the more popular.

pretty sure i will have a hard time getting a sh or earlier model. setting my sights now on an ergo.

thx for the info.

The Heavy Heart was a special edition of the Fusion Steel Heart that was made available only at the Busse Company Store. They were distinguished by having a thickness of ~.270" instead of the typical FSH thickness of .250". In addition, they had a slight sabre grind (I think that is the right term) meaning it had a small area of full stock near the spine which made it unique in the FSH family.

They were offered with either magnum or standard micarta slabs. Their logo was lower on the blade as opposed to the normal FSH logo that was closer to the spine. That is, those that had logos... Some were sterile and were reputed to be originally destined for a NASA order but were mistakenly routed to Skunk with the rest of the HH shipment.

They, like the Model T, were available in any color coating and grip material as long as you wanted black crinkle and black micarta. ;)

I loooooovvee my Heavy Heart!

You'll love it, Mori. Did you get mag handles or standard?

Standard, at least the one from me. :)

I actually do have one last HH but its my keeper with Mags. Darn thing took me a couple of months to track one down. Fluggin HOGs never want to part with anything. :p :D

I hope I can help a little... But Randucci will have to chime in with his UberCollection pic - I got here late! :D

Here are a few different Steel Hearts

Top to bottom:
SHSH - Straight Handled Steel Heart
HHFSH - Heavy Heart Fusion Steel Heart, BLack Magnum
HOGFSH - Heavy Ordnance Grade Fusion Steel Heart - Black Finish
HOGFSHLE - Heavy Ordnance Grade Fusion Steel Heart Limited Edition - Satin Finish, sterile (no logo or number)
GW - Game Warden, satin finish and snake handle
ZTSH - Zero Tolerance Steel Heart, Ergo Handle (Similar to a Steel Heart Ergo, but with clip point grind, thinner blade.)
on left - FSH - Fusion Steel Heart, tan blade, black handles

MORIMOTOM, thanks for asking the questions, I grabbed the other HH, thanks SNAFU.
I will have it in time, but, I'm NOT going to be carving Thanksgiving Turkey with it.

No, I'm going to slash, hack and stab that bird til he sings "Your Cheating Heart"!!

Hey, .... that would be a good name for another knife in the series, "The Cheating Heart" FSH CH. One with the new grooves milled in it.

DIBS on #1 since I named it!!!

PS: What is a good sheath for the HHFSH? Mymindisamob, what sheath are you using, looks a bit SpecOp-ish?

I need a HH...I always liked the grind, I wish the HOG had the same grind instead of the Full Flat. But I am not complaining, that beast is a joy to chop with!

Yep, it be a heavily modified Spec-Ops Survival Sheath. If you can get the search function to work, there are several threads related within the Busse forum. If not, PM me, and I will walk you through the process.
