TK, I noticed in the video there's some sort of tang attachment at at bottom of the handle. Seems too perfect to have been peened (yet certainly within your ability to do so). Is it a recessed threaded nut?
Thanks - and gorgeous knife BTW.
Allan

Hi Allan,

Yes, its a threaded nut in the form of a 5/16" corby bolt - I grind the screw slot off flush with the back of the butt because it looks more finished without it, to me!

Good purchase Allen , TK's work is exceptional .
Thanks Mr.ONeill. I really value your opinion, much as I value Mr. Steingass' work. They don't come along very often (for obvious reasons) so I decided to pull the trigger while I could. It's likely going to the heirloom box where hopefully someone will realize its significance and take care of it. I admire Mr. Steingass' service as much as I do his work. Instead of just arbitrarily buying "nice" knives, I've decided to curate my collection along lines I feel are important. I'm not a sophisticated collector by any means, but I know what I like. When the opportunity presents itself, I strike! I'm going to love this one for sure! There are some other maker's I'd like, but they're outta my league. I'd be interested to know your approach to collecting so that maybe I might not overlook a good maker that's under the radar. I've had a few of yours in mind, but always overthink and usually miss the chance.
Be well my friend; let's stay in touch.
Allan
