Heavy with pictures, a small fake Buck reference straight from China/Hong Kong

I woke up at the crack this morning, checked my e-mail and found an e-mail containing a catalog from a site in China/Hong Kong. For your amusement, here's most of the "Buck's" they have listed. One odd thing is that they also had a couple of possibly real Buck's (Silver Creek fishing knives and the X-Tract) but had a red banner cleverly placed (??) to cover and hide the tang stamp on them.

I won't post the web site address, wouldn't want to get popped for "deal spotting" (;)). They list bunches of other brand name knives which I'd bet are as fake as these. I've just been told by a mod that it's not ok to post the website here, but I will e-mail or PM it to anyone interested.

Wow,

Some of those fakes are look muck like the real thing! However, they have never seen a 112 before...lol. I have also seen that punisher for sale on ebay listed as a buck, when I saw the knife shape I did not give it a second look. Thanks for the heads up Dave.

One of those dime store shops that sell cheap knives at the check out counter may buy some of these and sell them and not even know they are fakes. No wonder many folks think all Buck knives are made in china. I hope Buck can go after these guys.

wow .... some of them almost look like real bucks... ...
some have the same nail nick some dont
i sure hope buck can get them stoped
as i am sure they are cheeply made...

Wow! That 4th 110 from the top made me look twice. Think I've got one or two 110's with nearly identical wood.

Notice on the 110's that they all only have a period after the A.... "USA."
Now that I've pointed that out they will probable fix it...:o

U.S. companies have long been angered with China’s lax position on intellectual property infringement and piracy for American products and services.

For the first time, the visiting Chinese President Hu acknowledged the problem when President Obama raised the issue.

I hadn't noticed that. I did notice the brass rocker rivet, Buck hasn't done that in years. Also, the blank sheath snap. They look plenty good enough to fool most unsuspecting new buyers and even some old buyers I suspect.

If anyone has tried to PM me for the website, try again. My inbox was full and I just emptied it.

I went through and looked around a bit...these guys are getting better and better at knockoffs! I couldn't help but think...one really needs to do their homework if they are unfamiliar with a particular brand...and if they keep improving, perhaps someday it will be even harder to detect fakes:eek: With Manufacturers demanding better and better quality goods, we have shared quality controle practices and tolerances...maybe sooner than we think, the quality of some fakes may even rival the originals...

That's just sad.

That last one looks like my drop point Benchmade Rant,
what Buck model is that?

A couple days ago, I pulled up Bucks on the bay. It was unreal. It seemed like endless fakes.
I did an ended auction search, and it was interesting to see how many of these knives started at 1 cent, and got no bids...
Hopefully people are becoming better educated, and the sellers that are trying to sell this stuff, get stuck with truck loads of it.

It's become a chore to scroll though sometime 2 pages in a row before getting to a real Buck. Some of the fakes are nearly perfect, the Noblemans for example are almost exact.

If you limit your search to the USA only, it eliminates probably 99% of those fake listings. ;)

As Jerad pointed out , if you use USA only , you eliminate Canada sellers. I now use North America only. It still eliminated 99% of the fakes, and still lets us look at our Canadian friends. Hope this helps some.

Just for entertainment purposes, I went back to the bay and just searched Buck knives again.
The shear number of fakes is just mind boggling. I have to believe that Buck has attorneys that are well aware of this practice.
At least I hope they do. It is really disgusting, to see people using the name of a very respected family and business to profit.

I hate those Chinese fake Buck Knives. I see them often online. BTW, I do not buy the real China Buck's either.
