Hedgehog leatherworks new leather.

What do you guys think of the new design? Think they went cheap on the leather? I emailed themasking if I get the old style done still and haven't heard from them yet.
 
I'm having a bit of a problem trying to even understand your post. Point???, Pictures???, leather quality (using my imagination)???? Old style,new style (imagination again)??? You need to do better than this if you want a serious answer.

What don't you understand? They changed the look of the leather. Sorry I am no leather expert and don't know the proper terms. They went from a smooth leather to a fought finish on all their products. Just wondering if the quality went down or there was a difference at all. Www.hedgehogleatherworks.com
 
If you search around it says its the same leather they just tool now for a few reasons that i dont totally bye but i dont think they would lower there quality its what there known for.

The texture you see is a stamping or embossing process to the same leather they have been using, and it by no means lessens the quality of the leather.
You can probably still get the smooth leather on request.

See second post, this thread. Been a member for quite some time. Didn't understand what the OP was concerned about until later in the thread, but it appears he was taken back by the embossed or textured finish on the Hedgehog products displayed lately. It is, as Ray said just the change from smooth to embossed finish leather and should have zero effect on the quality of the end product.

I understand what he is concerned with. I know that the different look won't effect the quality of their products.

I believe MWTIC was actually refereing to Paul Scheiter, owner of Hedgehog Leatherworks. I dont think I have seen him on any forums, at least not publicly displaying himself. He is a pretty busy guy, so I'd imagine he doesnt have much time for message boards.

They are correct about the embossing. I cant say I am much of a fan of the new look of it either, I guess my mind just associates that texture with cheaper leather. Regardless, there is no way Paul Scheiter would go with lower grade hides.

Thank you all for the info, I want one of his sheaths and don't mind dishing out the cash for it. But for the kind of money he is asking I am going to get what I want. Thanks again to all of you.
