Hi I'm Phil. Here's a quick story about my SOG knives.

I'm going to have to go way back for this one. I never knew my birth father, but my mom married when I was only 2. So my dad (adopted) had been around for as long as I can remember. When I became old enough to understand the whole adoption thing, my dad sat me down and explained the situation. He officially became "Dad" to me, not just on paper but by my choice (if that makes sense). To commemorate the occasion my dad got a titanium ring and he he bought me two knives. It was really special. My SOG Desert Dagger is one of my most cherished possessions. And my trusty Flash II is an awesome EDC.

Well, now I'm about to become a father myself (to twin boys), so my dad told me yesterday he wants to get another SOG knife to celebrate. He wanted to get a matching Desert Dagger, but he's open to another model in the same SOG era.

So which do we choose?

Congrats, and i would say do what feel most right to ya. I personally would get desert daggers for them, its a really cool concept of a family having the exact same knives.

Done! I liked the idea of twinning the knives, so another DD was bought off eBay (I love it when sellers don't know the model name so it doesn't show up in a search and you can snag a deal).

Thanks for this, Phil.
It's wonderful to see a tangible connection between the generations of a family. (And as my grandaddy used to say: "There are families of affinity, and families of consanguinity." I wasn't alive to hear him say that, but he was speaking to the transcendent, unifying power of love.)

Sweet pair, I love sogs older stuff. It reminds me of when I got my first knife. My oldest brother was moving away and gave me and my other brother spyderco harpys.
