The tests/tasks I put my medium sized knives to where:
1) Batoning, both to split firewood and to cut through wood
2) Chopping, how thick a branch it could '1 shot' and how effective it was a going through larger pieces
3) Wood carving/whittling, making tent pegs or stakes, pot rests etc
4) Splitting wood, what thickness of log or branch I could '1 shot', did it stick in the wood etc
5) Handle, did it become uncomfortable in any of the tasks, did it offer flexibility of grip to allow for different tasks
6) Cutting rope
7) Food prep
8) Ferro rod sparking off the spine (if needed)
Think I did a few other tests to, as I said the SFNO edged the HR in most by a little margin. The HR has more tactical applications though which is why I kept mine and moved the SFNO on.
I do agree though if you have a SAR8, BWM, CGFBM or NMSFNO (or similar type blade to these) then any of these will replace the role of the SFNO so go with the HR.
