Hello all! I'm new to the forum and also knife making.
I recently decided that kitchen knives arent giving me what I want and when I find one that does, its too expensive.
So, now I'm looking into the possibility of making my own.

(I posted this in another area but, I spend most of my time reading in here)

Welcome to Shop Talk.
There are several makers on this site who specialize in kitchen and chef's cutlery.

Draw up some ideas, and post the sketches with the size and metals you are thinking about. You will get lots of good advice.

If just getting started, a simple knife style is best. A 3" parer, a 4" petty, a 5" utility, or a 6" chef's blade make a good first project.

Steel choice is up to you, but CPM-S35VN or CPM-154 make excellent blades.

Welcome! I see your not too far away from me, there are a few of us either side of the Altamont frm you, some Bay guys and some of us Valley guys. I'm not super experianced, but I have made a ton of mistakes and know how to avoid them, so if you wanna shoot the breeze feel free to drop me a line.
