Hello and few questions...

I recommend looking into a Graham Knives Razel. It might be just what your looking for. Also, have looked at Bud Nealy's knives?

I second Dozier's small fixed blades on horizontal belt sheath. Those who've handled them know the positive lock of his great kydex work - how the knife sits low profile right where your hands are and perhaps under a shirt. Anyone who has to crawl around, move about and get physical should consider the safe carry of a Dozier in a Dozier sheath. You reach under your shirt bottom and grasp the knife and depress the top of the clip with your thumb, withdrawing the knife. D2 steel takes and holds a wonderful edge. And you have a great array of knife styles and color handles to choose from. When you want to remove the sheathed knife at the end of the day, you don't have to undo the belt - the knife sheath just unhooks from the belt with some manipulation. Basically, a handly and safe, understated carry that is there when you need it.

And I think you are right. it looks like the one. Now where can I get one for decent amount of money?

Matt

Standard price is $185, you can Google for sellers or buy from chrisreeve.com direct. Maybe you can get cheaper price on this forum, go to the Knife exchange forum and then "Knife-want to buy" sub forum and list for Chris Reeve Shadow III.
If you hands a re bigger than avarage or even average with gloves, possible problem with Shadow III and all Chris reeve small fix blade knives are the very small handles. if you can, try handleing one first, another EMT on this thread suggested Swamp Rat Bandicoot or Howling Rat- these are MUCH tougher then Chris Reeve for about $95 with shipping. Do a search you will find exellent info. Good luck-

Martin I did the search for the swamp rat knives and got nice pics and spec that I like but really can't find a pic of their sheats... I know that few guys mentioned that I can always get a custom sheath but I still would like to know what I get with the knife and if it would serve at least temporary. Do you know anything about SRK sheats?

Matt

Matt sorry for not giving a link, go to the Manufacturers forum and then to Swamp Rat sub-forum, click on the top "sticky" thread -"Important information and FAQS. " http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=217950
That thread has pictures of thier sheaths at the beginning- cordura nylon multi carry options sheath with a kydex insert for the blade. Probably it is better sheath for EMT carry then the Reeves leather sheath.
I am not bad mouthing Shadow III, it is a good knife and I like Sebenzas but I think Swamp Rat for fix blade is better quality AND it is cheaper price also. You made reference to prying, if you pry and break the tip on the Shadow III Chris Reeve will consider it abusive and not replace. The Swamp Rats are made of much tougher differential-tempered steel and every knife is chemically checked for stress flaws before leaving the shop, if you manage some how to break it then Swamp Rat will replace no matter what. (unconditional warranty) Good luck choosing!

Well I just got an nice email from Mr. Isaacson from SRK an he informed me that Howling Rat comes with basic leather sheath. FOr any imporved sheath I should try:

I mean money wise I'm better of with SRK and I can afford a better sheath right away. With Shadow better sheath would have to wait.

I mean it is a hard decision. I never heard of SRK. I own Sebenza and know of Reeve reputation. From what I read I'm glad that I avoided mistake of buying Aviator. Also SRK seem like a great solid piece of equipment.

Matt

I have a Howling Rat, and I know I can trust it with my life. You seem to be a hard use knife guy, and the Howler can take it. I also think the resiprene handles of the Howler will be more comfortable than the metal handle of the CRK.

Either the Camillus Arclite or the Camillus Becker Knife and Tool BK-11 neck knives would be very compact. If you get the D2 alloy version of the Arclite from AG Russell you get a very wear resistant alloy in a very compact package. The BK-11 is a very beefy knife in a very compact package. Since it is made from carbon steel it is also very tough. I would look at the BK-11 (Becker Necker) particularly closely.

After weekend's events I decided on the Camilius Becker knife. It is not that expensive and it comes with everything I need right out of the box. I will give it a paracord handle wrap and work on the carrying system which shouldn't be that hard.

As much as I like the Aviator or CRK I would have been thorn too much if I lost one or damaged one. They are great knives but too nice to be put thru abuse and missuse.

Thank you all for input.

Ok what mistakes are you talking about? What i wrong with the Aviator? Also, if the Aviator is so bad and it is just a scaled down version of the SpecWar then what makes the SpecWar any different from the Aviator?????
