hello, can you help me identify this little old axe?

I still like it.. its a good momento of my time spent helping the less fortunate for free.. and as a tool its not bad.. not to heavy.. not too light.. just needs a new haft at this point

Yep, that makes me stand by my original post. India made, sold to various outlets as a competition throwing hawk. Decent steel in the blade so it should work fine for you. The indent where the eye goes to blade gives it away, pretty much a signature for their manufacturing method for them.

Yep, you had it nailed from the beginning. We will never know how it got in a lath and plaster wall.

I rest my case, these newer pictures are undeniable... always trust in visual hints before location of the find (excluding archeologic find, of course).

JDe, are you going to try and straighten the bit now that youve taken it off??
show use some pictures of the end product! :)

Kinda like that blue/black or white/gold dress a few months back..:)

I'm not tooled up for such work.. ive tried some weird stuff to try it before.. but ive got no hest source no only one hammer and no vise or anvil I'll try but it probably won't do anything.

Hey.. my father is really into woodworking.. so I may have a chance at a free hand made haft.
. Problem is hr doesn't have curly maple.. but he has wormy maple.. im thinking maybe take the wormy with some sort of light red stain if maple will take it? Guys think it could look good and still be a working tool?

i wouldnt recommand that you use wormy maple, it was infected by a beetle and i presume, weakened by it, if only marginaly, you are making a tool handle, after all.

Thanks for taking the time to come back with the pictures. Looks like there are 3 or 4 members here who would have no problem buying an obvious fake if someone told them it was found in an old wall. Good luck on the haft. The few of these I've played with did have decent steel in the bit, so it should still serve you well as a user.

You would starve to death trying to make money by selling me anything.;)
