(No Hello Kitty around our house. She would have been taken out years ago by Power Rangers, Marvel superheros, GI Joes, etc. if she had dared to seek entry into our abode.)

That's the primary reason I collect action figures! Azrael guards our dome against Hello Kitty invasion with his flaming wrist-daggers and constant vigilance.

Coolist thread ever.

I do recall seeing a (photoshopped I think) Hello Kitty daisho with the katana in blue and the wakizashi in pink.

Josh, you and my two youngest both call them, 'action figures' . 'Dolls' doesn't sound as good.

Trav and Carter came home from school today with the rest of the prizes from the Fair. Trav has a stack of First places.

"Jeez. Look at that Dad. I didn't win as many as that when I was his age." Carter was a little shocked. He got a couple firsts. They paid him a stipend too; 6 bucks.

I noticed during the Science fair one year that the parents do the work, against the rules, and it is very hard to win without this help. Carter got a second and third one year.

That bugs me. At least the judges should darn well know if a kid really did it, or his Mom and Dad.
Who is going to school?
Reminds me a little of the cheating in college these days- apparently approaching an all time high.

OK; now we can go back to Action Figures.

Usually I think of dolls as having soft goods--clothing, hair, etc. while action figures are solid plastic. However, the Ur-action-figure, GI Joe, came with all kinds of bitchin' clothing and a whole host of accessories. And I suppose there is some loose analogy between a girl playing dress-up with her dolls and a young lad equipping GI Joe for a serious mission.

If I wanted to be...mean? I'd have to wonder at the whole group at BF, and other martial forums. Cutting air? There's a little play acting.

Pinewood Derby....yes. I stopped entering such things when it became apparent my untouched boxy racer was never going to win....
I remember some awesome models. I thought the full size racers interesting but never did the car.

Just bumping this back up from the depths (a suitable place for a fish, I guess) 'cause for some reason I'm finally able to view the pictures of Hello Goldfish.

Gotta say, I love the scales on the fish - great eye for detail. And the composition of the picture is also more sophisticated than anyone would normally expect at this age. Well done again.

Tom,
I think the scales were made by a pressing some vegitable, probably a carrot, into ink. Trav could not have drawn those free hand. Yeah, he had help from Hello Carrot.

My god, a "mixed media" artist.

I'm serious about the composition. That's pretty advanced layout for a tyke - help him train his eye some more, he's got a talent there.

Trav will play with the Dragon Ball Z 'action figures' he has for hours. Typical kid. What I like is he calls them 'shows', and used to come by the desk with a report on how the show is going. The shows are involved, character driven, with lot's of twists and turns. He's herded us a couple times into sitting still for one of his theatre productions. He sings, acts out various things, and sings some more.

Only my own voice is worse.

This here is a proud father who knows he should not be talking up his kid in a thread. Ask a parent a question about his kids, or say something positive about them, and bingo: dad just talks and talks about them.

Crap, wish I'd read this before I posted that stuff about the floaty frogs.:o
