Hi folks
I registered a few weeks back but with one thing and another I haven't had a chance to introduce myself until now and since I had a few moments spare I thought it was high time I did so. So here I am!
I have had a look around for an "introduce yourself thread" but I couldn't find one, so I thought I would be best to introduce myself on the sub-forum were I'll probably be spending most of my time. Mods, if I've put this in the wrong place then I apologise.
I guess I should tell you a little about myself. I first got into knives with the swiss army knives, at the time they seemed ideal, a small pocket knife with a few tools to handle everyday problems. I knew about the leatherman style multi-tools but living in the UK the selection of decent "legal" ones was pretty slim and very pricey so I stuck with SAKs.
By now your probably wondering were the traditional knives fit into all this, so I'll tell you. I've always liked the look of silver bolsters, jigged bone & antler ect. However the only patterns I was aware of were ones with 2 or 3 blades like a stockman which didn't compare too well to a swiss army knife due to the lack of tools.
Then I found out about the sportsman's and horseman's patterns and thought, Ah ha! a nice stag/jigged bone handles carbon steel blades AND tools galore. And then even more recently I found the lobster knife after reading some of jackknife's stories.
I think I'll be cursing you bunch of enablers for a long time to come.
