Just signed up today. I have a lot of reading to do before I attempt to actually make something. There is a ton of great info here.

I have a couple of projects in mind to get started with little cost. I have a broken kitchen knife that I want to put a deer antler handle on and a bayonet that I want to grind the loop off the guard and replace the handle with a solid wood grip. I thought after that I might finish a couple of kits while I build up the nerve to try filing out my own blade.

Welcome to Blade Forums! At the top there a newbie sticky. There is alot of good reading there. Thats where I started. I also asked questions at every step. The makers here are awesome and helped me out alot. Another thing is find a local maker in your area and pay him a visit. Makers are usually willing to show you a thing or two. Good luck and post pics of your progress. I love seeing pics of knives.

welcome to the nightmare . Just go for it , forget the kit and use the money to buy a piece of O-1 and the files . Soon you will be wanting a machine and it goes on from there .

Welcome. You are at the beginning, it's not too late to quit now :p, or else you'll be possessed by knife making daemons...
If you have some extra money and looking for a serious hobby do invest on a good belt grinder at the beginning, you won't suffer at the start like most of us did. Even if you quit knifemaking hobby a belt grinder is a useful tool for any kind of DIY project...

The knifemaking bug gotcha! Welcome to the forums, enjoy your stay with us.

I ahve been loving knives for quite awhile and now I started making knives.

I am from Thailand.

First I purchased Dosier grinder, it was so nice equipment, then I did try to make knives and I dammage them all. Perhaps I destroy some thing like 10 kg. steel.

Hear is the first good knife i made.
