As a self confessed knife nut - owning a CS Magnum Tanto, a CS standard Tanto, a Schrade Sharp Finger, a Marttiini pukko, a Marttiini Fillet knife, a Kershaw blade trader set, and a drawer full of quality folding knives - and having been a hobbyuist knife maker for a couple of decades or more - I had considered myself immune to any further manifestations of knife addiction.
However, some weeks ago, a long time friend clued me up to the HI website.
Foolishly I bought an HI 18 inch WWII Khukuri which arrived in no time flat from the other side of the world, astounded me with its balance and beauty, and I was instantly smitten, to the point that within a week or receipt of the new blade (field tested in the garden - chops like a chainsaw, after licking up the edge it will shave hair) I find I am now eagerly awaiting delivery of two and a half more khukuris. (had to get the paper cutter for my wife's purse). i have now figured out that I have got full blown HIKV!!! Is there any hope?? Astonishing products, astonishing service.

regards from New Zealand (thats pronounced NNYOO ZEALNND)

PS HIWWII makes the Magnum Tanto look like a paring knife!

Welcome. :)

Your first HI kukuri is an amazing thing. My first is still my favorite.

Abandon hope, all ye who enter here. You have been assimilated.:)

Welcome! That first khukuri IS an amazing thing. So is # 20. :D

Welcome!

I still remember some times ago when we here used to have a netter nicknamed 'Apothecary' and then one day he changed his nickname to a new one! He might know the pharmacotherapy for HIKV!

Nepal Ho

Howdy! My wife opened my safe the other day (why did I give her the combination?!) and now is convinced I have lost my mind!!!

Welcome!

Andy

Thanks for the welcome guys, forgive the tardy response - due to the time differnce, it is 0650 here in NZ. I'm looking forward to learning more and sharing in future times! Thats all for now, I have dogs to feed and offspring to take to school. Final thought on the HI WWII, doesn't quite make it for concealment purposes - must get more

hi,

welcome to the asylum, hikv is incurable, you can only treat the symptoms by acquiring more knives. you obviously have noted you need a smaller one now for concealed carry (where legal of course, which it ain't here in gloucestershire)

please post pictures of doggies in cantina subforum. ;)

If they don't want me to eat animals - why do they make them out of MEAT?

Actually, most folks here just get one or two of their favorite models and then stop there. Oh, maybe a new one every 6 months or year or so, just to support HI and keep my hand in, if you know what I mean. You must be one seriously addicted guy!

I'm just glad the rest of us have such excellent self-control. ;) :D

Good evening from the antipodes - another day successfully concluded without any disasters to report. Took the WarII into the back yard to give it some exercise and to deal to some rebellious trees and shrubs. It performed well within accepted parameters. The wife has now taken it from me to deal to a rebellious pumpkin, (also from the back yard!) - as you may imagine it is somewhat overkill for this particular task. I will be lucky if she gives it back to me, perhaps if I tell her that it is most assuredly not dishwasher safe? (probably a little white lie but who cares,) I might meet with better success.
This weekend I am entered into my once a year archery tournament so now I must go and prepare for that.
Best wishes and blessings.
To Kronckew, I have yet to figure out how to load a photo but will get onto this soon, also comment about "concealment" was of course very tongue in cheek, sadly, just as much illegal here as there, in fact we have arms laws here that would please Mao Tse Tung or Joe Stalin! God help us all!

Cheers mate for this thought. It seems that you do most of your talking over on the Cantina, maybe I'll see you over there. Despite what the shrinks/ therapists/ and others , well meaning to a greater or lesser extent, would tell you, too much introspection is not necessarily a healthy thing. Be of good cheer and take courage - oftentimes love is all it takes to get you through.

We should start a little HIKV club down here.

I only have a 18" WWII from Shop1 (from waaay back), a 20" Kobra and a 18" Sirupate - sort of covers my bases for tools and weapons!

Hi All,
Especially to Daniel - sounds like a great idea, call us sometime on Auckland 818-5268.
Cheers
