Hi people,

i've heard lots about this forum so i decided to give it a shot.
no doubt i have a lot to learn from you.
i'm a knife addict like many of you:) but my main interest are 3" edc folders.
i have a few i plan to show you all but for now is just to say hello:D
i have a question:
many european members on here?

Regards people

welcome!!! and hold onto you wallet!!!

thanks.
yes, i know:D but i'm afraid i won't be buying a lot from here!!!:(:(
UNFORTUNENTELY, i have to import all my knives within europe because whatever comes from outside of it get's held by customs!
it's not illegal to import knives but i would have to pay a huge amount of money if it get's held there.
sometimes double of what the product cost!! I know it's a theft!!
so, to prevent this madness i only buy knives within europe wich cost almost double than in the US!
for example, i bought a delica 4 ffg from an uk site that cost me the equivalent of 101$!!
so, you can imagine how a strider, chris reeve, hinderer cost here:)

Welcome, Mantzao! I can't give you an exact number of European members, but I am sure it is hundreds. I know for a fact that there are other Portugal members here, who will probably chime in.

Enjoy your stay.

Boas-vindas Mantzao,

Be sure you will find nice aknowledged people here. Some of them are great experts and they will make you save money. By reading their relevant posts you will discern what are the hypes and what are your needs about knives. Enjoy.

Bonjour Mantzao. Welcome to the Forums , and knives in general. Have a good weekend !!

Welcome! While you're here, could you give us a quick rundown of the legal situation, regarding knives, in your country? In addition to what's legal, what is normal or socially acceptable? We like to learn, too :-) thanks.

Welcome. I am currently living in Cascais.
I usually get my blades brought from the US by friends. It is the only way I can afford them.

thanks.

Same here.
Welcome to the forums. I have to buy knives for 3X the price...
sounds not really funny right?
ANd, once you join this forum, you'll soon have to get more jobs, knives eat wallet you know

Hi Mantzao,

here is another European. And just like you I discovered that in Europe the price to quality ratio is very good for some those chinese models because US imports are so very expensive here. In the US I bought a Buck 143, 119 and 110 together for the price of 1 Buck 110 back at home.

Another European here, and I lived in Portugal for 13 months. The country has the worst bureaucracy of the entire developed world, and rules on knives and swords suck big time. But it's a beautiful country, the people are great and so is the weather and the Atlantic beaches. I loved it there except for the aforementioned.
You are right about customs, they are a pain, even wooden catapults with the rough outline of a pistol got stopped and confiscated (toys for my sons). It's just a diseased arrogant mentality, and a major factor in me leaving. Buy your knives inside the EU and you should be ok.
