Hello from Tennessee

Yeah, we should set up a hike one weekend. I didn't know there were so many from E. TN. Maybe we could to the chimneys or something.

Chimneys = tourist crowds. Let's do something not crowded, and perhaps more challenging. Lots of places fit that description, with a better view to boot.

Welcome from another East Tennessean! I work on the weekends so no weekend hiking for me.

You live in a beautiful area. I was in Knoxville last night at the (free) Drive-By Truckers show downtown.

Not very challenging, but House Mountain is a nice quick hike for those in and around Knox County not looking for a drive.

Yeah, I just figured it would be one that everyone knew. I really wouldn't care where it was. I work every other weekend, but would be available the two weekends a month I am off. Sounds like a good time.

Hey! Welcome to BF's W&SS! I live just down the road on line between Seymour and Walland. The Chilhowee Ridge greets me from out of my living room window everyday. Maybe a hike up Tremont would work (I'll be stopping along the way to catch some trout).

Dude, East Tennesee BF members hike?

For day hikes - LeConte is a favorite, pick the trail, I like them all. The Jumpoff is spectacular and only about 7 miles round trip without too much vertical. Charlies Bunion....

And yes, I like to hike/backpack in the Smokies. If you are interested in some nice loop hikes there are a lot to choose from.

We could always hit up the Lodge for lunch; it's not too terribly expensive and it would be a great place to relax for a few.

Yeah, you could also smoke some pot. Have you been up there lately? They were all stoned last time I went. Sounds like a good idea though. Alum Cave is my favorite trail.

Charlie's Bunion is awesome. Another one of my favorites. My scout troop did a trip for the park to survey signs, and once we got to the bunion, we kept going and came out at the end of Kephart Springs trail. We did pass a shelter that some of us stayed at that we could spend the night at.

Actually it's been a little over a year since the last time I went.

I would be up for almost anything. I am thinking about going to Mt. Cammerer soon as well. I have not been up there since November and I would really like to see the view.

This thread needs some pictures. From several different trips. Any more requests?
