Yep park rangers dress like that. There's a lot of poaching in those parks. Poachers are armed so rangers have to be too. I got to meet some of them about 20 years ago in Khao Yai NP.

It is great to see how what most of us consider a weekend/recreational activity... for you guys is part of your daily routine. I think that in this situation the knives are considered totally as expendable tools.
@thanakrit Great thread and pictures. Bamboo is the tree from God. In an urban environment, it can be rather invasive however.
Can you tell us more how bamboo is used? I see it was used to warm food over the fire, as a water container, and as a plate to eat the food. Great pics
