Hello to everybody here on Bladeforums.com,
My name is Scott Thomas and I am a full time general blacksmith and run Ardenwood Forge located in Ardenwood Historic Farm in Fremont California. After reading many of the posts to this site, I am impressed with the sense of community from all the members here at Bladeforums.
I work the full range of blacksmithing from farrier work to historic reproductions and custom commissioned projects. I have forged general utility knives for folks for a number of years, and have decided to try and raise the quality of my knife work from just a general-purpose utility tool to a higher level of quality and finish. I look forward to learning the finer aspects of fit and finish from the pool of knowledge here at Bladeforums. In return, as a professional blacksmith and instructor of blacksmithing for the California Blacksmith Association I hope that some of my experience and knowledge will be of use to folks here as well.
Here is a photo of my first Fancy blade. About 14 5/8th inches over all with a 7 1/2 inch cutting edge. Forged from a piece of 5/8 round coil spring, hand filed and finished with a grip of Black Acacia wood. The balance point is right at the finger guard.
Sincerely,
Scott Thomas
