Just wanted to make my arrival known to the regulars of the board and let you know a little bit about myself, so that you all don't think I'm just trolling around here.

I'm a 30 yr. old guy from the Great White North. I currently own 3 knives:

1) a Swiss Army Knife - "Viking" model
2) a Schrade pocket folder (given to me by my father when I was younger)
3) a United Cutlery Colt AR-15-K Lockback folder

I am hopefully going to be enrolled in a knife-making course this winter (provided there's enough space for 1 more student) and I have a great interest in both knives and swords, but my knowledge in these areas is rather limited.

I am currently trying to track down and purchase an authentic Hungarian sabre from the 14th to 16th century .... so if anyone reading this knows of a link or two that might help me out, I would appreciate it.

Thanks for your time ....

Hi, welcome to BladeForums. You may want to hop to the Sword Discussion Forum and post your question about Hungarian Sabres there.

Harry

Metal-Demon, Welcome!! It is clear to see you are not currently "trolling around"

I myself have no knowledge of the Hungarian sabre, but wanted to welcome you here. Hopefully someone can help you out. Later Jeff.

Welcome Metal-Demon! Don't forget about the "Canadian Connection" under "Community" where other frozen knife-knuts congregate

Thanks guys .... it might take me awhile to get to know the "ins and outs" of this board. I've noticed that most swearing is censored here .... THAT is something I'll have a hard time getting used to! I'm usually cussing a blue streak like you all wouldn't believe

Thanks Esav. I've been to the SwordForum International before, but I have such a hard time dealing with and reading the different bulletin board style ... they're a GREAT bunch of people there though!

Metal-Demon, the Welcome Back comment was because of a very unfortunate recent encounter with a Metal-Head Canadian named Misko. The guy had a hard time figuring out how to acceptably communicate in these forums, flamed everyone for commenting on his astonishingly ridiculous questions, and then quit the board. He was probably a troll just stirring up trouble, but he may have just been a poor mannered person with a legitimate interest in knives. Anyway, some folks suggested he chill out and come back under a Different name so that he could have a fresh start.

The timing of your registration, the lack of an email addy in your profile, a location in Canada, and your hande 'Metal-Demon', may cause some to assume you are Misko. I don't think that is the case, So...Welcome to BFC!

Wow! A 14th to 16th Century Hungarian saber.

You have taken on the quest for the holy grail, my friend. Somebody who might be able to help is Bernard Levine. He has a forum in the General section here, and he has more information on sharp stuff than I've ever seen.

Welcome to the forums, and I hope we can see some of your own Demonic Metal creations here soon. Keep us posted, M-D.

I know I'm operating under that assumption, at least for the time being.

I'm willing to give somebody the benefit of the doubt, but the similarities are uncanny. Welcome to the forums.
