Hello, been collecting a short time now, been a fond fan of sharp edged steel since I was a wee tot. This is the collection I've amassed recently and the one's I EDC. Although, looking at these slightly older photos, I have let some of these loose and have some new one's not in these photos. I've also had some of these customized or changed the scales. If anyone wants to talk about any of them just throw up a comment.

I would like advice on buying my first Strider, CRK and Hinderer's when it comes time. I like the XM18 3.5" with Wharhcliff (?sp?) and the larger Strider DGG, I have no idea what CRK to get. I was making more money before and could have easily gotten them, but I was on a different kick. Right now I have the following knives on the way, a Brous T4, just the basic one, a Spyderco Navaja, and my Benchmade Contego is on the way back from BM after sending it in for blade play/rubbing problems. The next knife I'm looking to get is a Mcusta Tactility Damascus, preferably in the quince wood, but I'd settle for any wood, maybe even the corian scale. I'd also like one of those decorated Microtech mini matrix, a bastinelli red, a sog kiku, a fox delta and a spyderco tatanka.

So, this was my collection a couple months ago, pretty close to what I have now.

These next one's are the knives I've had forever. I bought the benchmade when I was in Kali and Muay Thai classes and some I got while in Europe.

From Bladeswelove, he also did the ano on my Reate D9 and my Reate Horizon A

This one has a custom Suingab scale. I liked this scale so much that I then ordered his green juma (sp?) one for my venom II. I'll post a photo of that later. I'm not as psyched on the green one as this gold one. The green comes out a little too ostentatious and maybe a bit plastic looking. I might get the white one next time. However, at $60 each single scale, the price is a bit much for my pocket now. Worth it on the right knife, but that choice has to be made carefully. For instance, the scale on this ZT is prolly twice the size of the venom, but he charges the same price. I understand why, but like I said that decision has to be made carefully. On this knife it really works, at least for me.

What's been sold
1. The BM bone collector, it was awesome, I really liked it, smooth, great blade shape, BUT, just too fat for my tastes. Just want to mention that although I'm not a huge fan of combo edges, this one was done well.
2. The Spyderco Kris, that knife was something I craved for a while. Finally found one cheapish, but when I got it I just couldn't stand it. The blade shape makes no sense if it's not sharp on both sides and the only way it can be that is if it is a fixed blade. Also, it's a killing people blade, that's what the design does well, as an edc working man's blade, not so much. It also tips down when open and one girl I know, a hot one, commented that it looked like a limp penis. It had to go.
3. The Shrade, I really liked that rainbow brite beauty, but a friend really wanted it so....
4. The Tighe coon is for sale and I'm putting up the needs work soon. They just don't compare to my newer acquisitions. I do really like that Tighe coons shape, and the needs work does what it should, replace a razor knife very well, and stays sharp, but....
5. The black label pandemonium fixed blade is up for sale. I love that knife, just love the shape, it fits my hand well, I used it a lot, however, I don't use it enough...
6. The Rat 1, what can I say, it was cool, but not cool enough. Great shape, great ergos, fits' in my hand like a glove, flips like air, great looks, but it just doesn't compare to the other knives I have now.

Forgot this one, which is just about my favorite knife of them all. So much so that I have two now, the other is just a basic Sukhoi 2.0 so that this one can sit in the vault. That one is an EDC. Unfortunately it was not as smooth as the customized one you see here so I had to open it up to do some work. After opening it a few times, and prolly not being as cautious as I should have been, the pivot stripped as well as one of the interior screws and an exterior screw is missing, not sure how that happened. So I wrote them and they said they are sending me new hardware. I haven't received it yet, but I think it's on it's way. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on a morph soon.

I will say, that although I love it, I think that having a pivot with a toque screw on one side and nothing on the other side was a bad idea. I also noticed that their torque screws seem a little loose when I stuck my tool in. No jokes. Which is either my Lowe's hardware torque screw bit set or the heads of their screws. I still love the knife, but think that the hardware could use improvement.

Looks like a nice collection, thank you for sharing with us. Welcome to the Board!

Nice collection of Reates! I've been eying a Sukhoi for myself but can't seem to pull the trigger.

Out of all of those knives, is there one that stands out as your favorite?

It looks to me like you have a fairly well rounded collection. You do need a CRK at some point though...and as soon as you find one you can afford, pick up a Shirogorov. I got my first Shiro the other day and there's something magical going on with Russian knives (which you probably already know from your CKF) ;)

Consider also a Southern Grind. Either Bad Monkey or Spider Monkey; pick the size that fits you. I continue to be blown away by my Spider Monkey...love that knife.

Consider adding a couple of slip joint folders from GEC. Your wallet will hate me when you take that advice!

Check out a couple of the Chinese high-value offerings like Kizer or RealSteel. I've got my eyes set on a Kingdom Arms Mini Samaritan...just because...I'm not really sure.

Finally, begin your plans for your first full custom. I've got that on my radar now...

Enjoy the hobby! Deny the addiction! Hide the receipts! These knife collections are like an onion...each layer only leads to another layer.

Nice collection Thanks for sharing, what's up with the ZT801 did you have in anodized or is it a limited edition?

Thanks to everyone for the warm reception.
Hackenslash, thanks for your input.
I'm not at all interested in slip joints, not at all.
I've seen Kizer's and although they are the right price range, I haven't seen one I love yet, if you want to share one in particular please do.
Never heard of real steel.
I've heard good things about the Southern Grind's and I may pick one up at some point. They are a little...boring looking though.
The mini sam looks way cool, I'm gonna investigate that one.
Shigs? No thanks, I wont be spending that much money on knives that look that plain and cost so much. I don't get it at all. They must be absolutely incredible in hand to fetch those prices. Either way though, I firmly believe that a man should stay within a reasonable realm of spending according to his income. My limit right now is around $600. I don't see myself going higher than that unless it's a custom and is a solid investment. For $500 I can get wicked good use out of a daily EDC that is solid and looks great.
My next blade, which I'm gonna have to save up for is the Todd Begg Steelcraft (reate) kwaiken.

I bought it new from Bladeswelove and he anodized it and inserted the ti screws. I have a new clip on it now, which looks good, but feels horrible. I wish it still looked like that but I've since kinda gotten it all scratched up and stuff. I'll be sending it back to him for a new ano sometime in the future. I really want a Black wash 0801, but haven't done it yet.
