Hello all,

I'm Happy Tom.. and I am glad to be here. I live down here in South Carolina.. where the flood disaster is.
I carry knives both concealed and open carry, every day..especially during the week days going to my work site.
There is no knife length laws down here.. and a person can carry concealed. As long as a person is not using the knife to commit a crime, so using the knife "as of lawful purpose"... Everything good to go! I'm really getting more into neck knives as of late.

Welcome! I must ask - what's getting you into neck knives?

I ask because they've always seemed inconvenient to me:
- having them moving around and dangling, or otherwise being VERY distracting under a shirt
- realistically requiring two hands to re-sheath
- kinda makes you look paranoid

I like many of the knives marketed as "neck knives", but would rather carry them on my hip. I dunno! What sparked your interest in them? Don't take my list of concerns as criticisms towards your interest - I'm genuinely curious.

Hi Tom. Welcome to the site.

Sorry to hear about your trouble. I live near Nashville and we had a huge flood in 2010 so I can relate. You'll dry out eventually. Just stay happy!

The neck knives that I have, don't bother me while they are under my shirt and they don't "print", so they are unnoticeable. I also like them, because the break away chains are long enough to fit into my front shirt pocket when I wear shirt that have that front pocket. I do like folding knives, and I have a few pocket clip ones. I also have a few fixed blade knives, even medium to small fixed blade knives that I carry on my belt both vertical and horizontal carry, but having the neck knife.. again.. to me is more convenient. Another plus, is I can rapidly deploy the blade. My most recent one, is I have one of the new Schrade SCHF47TA neck knives, and it actually help me out last week, as when I was driving to work, I ran over some debris (plastic bags or some sort of plastic sheeting) that I need to cut it off of my muffler.

Thank You, I won't get into the nature of my work, but I was working during the flood. Things are slowly getting fixed.. a lot of people lost their homes. I am very lucky. At the end of the week.. the great illumination of what of mine that could of been lost (my home, ect). Thank God my house is where it is on the road.. others that are close by.. sadly not so fortunate.

Welcome to BFC happytom !!!!!
I like a neck knife when I go fishing. It's easier to get to. Sometimes digging in the pocket can be a chore and I won't carry one clipped in a boat.

Try a Cold Steel Pendleton Mini Hunter in VG1 or wait for the 3V model. These come with a sheath that is convertible to neck carry. They are full tang, but light.

Welcome Tom. Before you go whole hog, I saw a knife just the other day you might find intriguing. People on BF would call it a "starter" knife, one that is affordable, but will serve the purpose of helping you determine what you like. Search MASTER USA MU-1128 NECK KNIFE.

Welcome Tom. As I always say to newcomers, prepare to open your mind and empty your wallet!

LOL! Just bought that one a month ago! For the price, not bad. G-10 scales, very small but you hardly notice it. There is no pins thru the scales and handle, just epoxy glue but it is solid.. and there is no play in the sheath. :-) Also, another inexpensive one that I have, is the Master USA MU-1119BK. I put real paracord on it.. it's not too bad again for the price. And it has a nice recurve tanto blade.

Thanks Doc.. I own the Tanto Lite and Finn Bear by them.. both pretty solid. I'll take a look at those.

Sometimes when "things happen" I have to get my bags and rpt to the work site. I like wearing it, so in case I am running out the door.. at least I have that on me.
Your avatar, looks like a 1911 stainless steel slide model by Kimber.. I may be mistaken.. nice looking gun! I really need to get to the range at some point! :-)

happytom welcome to the forum !!! Everybody here has been helpful and nice. You will definitely learn a great deal about all aspects of the knife life.
