Hello + Questions

Cobalt,I enjoyed the video. No penetration problems there.

Solstice,I agree on all points. As I have been searching the old posts the Busse family of knives are the only ones that haven't had any negitive comments except from folks that wanted one and couldn't get one fast enough. The service and warranty really sold me though.

thatmguy,I am down in Alabama.I am not in too big of a hurry though as I will need a month or so to put back money. My wife is great and wouldn't mind but she might think I was a little off for spending $500 on a knife. Now a ring that would be different. No regrets, if I get something nice she will too.

Clark, there is a CG FBM mint on the exchange at a good deal right now. and there should be more I am sure.

oh and if you liked that last clip here is another one:

R.H., I am near Portland and can show you a couple models if you are close. If you are close, you should try to get to Blade West anyway...you should see some cool stuff there ... if you get there early :p

Dunner, that is a very nice offer but I am in Alabama.Maby I'll make a show next year as I see I need to have some serious cash.No need to go all the way to a show for just one blade, right.

LOL ...that's for sure. It's easy to get overrun at at the Busse table anyway. I just wanted to get the offers started for those who are closer to you who might have a knife you are curious about to check out in person. I am sure some Piglet or Hog closer to you will chime in. And since I forgot in my last post... Welcome to the group

Oh what a poor box thingee! and what a sweet knife! exactly what do you want to use this "penetrator tip" on R.H.?

Well, knowing what Busse model fits your needs, and actually getting it, is a totally different story.

There is nothing immediately available that's close to an 8" blade. So you're relegated to looking at the Exchange for marked up Busse's that are now classified as "collectibles". In colors and options that you may not necessarily want to pay $500+ for.

If you NEED an 8" quality utility knife that is readily available, I would suggest the Fehrman First Strike or Final Judgment. If you want a Busse then the Exchange is your best bet.

I hunt with traditional bows.I want a large blade to take hog hunting. It is possible though not likely I would have to finish a wounded hog.Not likely to happen but they can be dangerous if cornered. Sometimes I camp out and want a blade that will do it all.I will however carry a small folder for field dressing.

You never know. If you looking to use it for that, heck the Extreme Judgement 9.5" would make a great pig-sticker. http://www.fehrmanknives.com/knives.htm

But we expect to see some pictures! Most everyone on here post nature pictures, chopping wood, etc. Yeaaaaa. I wanna see blood and guts.

Clark, your best bet is the exchange and look at getting a BM-E. You can get them reasonable these days and they are quick and stab well. And of course they are durable like only INFI can be.

Of course if you want a tough cheap user, get a scrapyard knife and it is 1/2 the cost of a ferhman and much tougher. Also Swamp Rat Battlerats always come up for sale and they would be a great deal as well and super tough

but having said that I have seen several FBM CG's recently go for real low prices.

Thanks guys
It will be a month or two before I start really hunting. Not much fun draging a hog or camping in 90 degree humid weather.I'll keep my eyes open on the used forum as well as deciding who I want to deal with.I am very cautious about sending my money to a stranger. No offence intended to anyone, I just haven't been here long enough to know anyone.
dduangrat,I'll try to get you some pictures you will like, just might be a while.

Thanks again to everyone
Randy

Randy,

The last "knife-only" hog hunt i went on, we used both a Battle Rat from swamp rat and a Battle Mistress Ergo from Busse --- both went in like butter. Either one would be MORE than enough. In fact, they were almost too long (we were using dogs) in that you had to be careful on a small pig not to cut a dog on the other side...

But I'd second cobalt's suggestions. These have been my go-to blades for the same sort of situations. Only very recently is a Mr Mofo trying to edge the BM-e out for the go-to pig hunter blade...
