Hello + recommendations for a gentleman's folder

Give Fallkniven folders a look. Some really nice stuff with great steel. Good luck

If you want a cheap one for about 50 dollars, and one with a strong lock, and could be used to baton under emergency, than I would definitely recommend the Coldsteel Code 4

He wants a gentleman style, not a mall ninja zombie crowbar. :)

I also recommend the mnandi. I think its sexy.

For the ultimate in style though... A modified Opinel? 7 or 8. You know, bubinga wood slightly flattened handle, polished and oiled. Drop the point slightly, grind down the backstop until the blade is straight. Polished blade or 400 grit brushed lock to tip? :)

Though I'm tempted to tool up and recommend a Strider or a ZT, I'm going to go with the Mnandi. I have one in mammoth ivory and a Devin Thomas Damascus blade, so it's dressy. As others have mentioned, you can't go wrong with a William Henry. That said, there's really no need to spend $500 to get a decent gent's folder. I have a couple of CRKT Ripples in ultramarine blue and bronze that are both beautiful and fine cutting machines. A Kershaw Wild Turkey Damascus is also very nice (though discontinued). I also have a couple of Leeks in low-contrast Damascus that are pretty inoffensive. For Valentine's Day, my girl gave me a Spyderco Kiwi 3 with the stag handle; it's very nice!

I know the OP got rid of his Chaparral, but I have both the stepped titanium and the blue stepped titanium, and in my opinion, you'll have to go aways to find a prettier knife. Same same for a Spyderco Memory. I'm also a fan of what Southwest Stoneworks has done to the Dragonfly. Truly, a work of art!

Now, a Gold Class Benchmade 531 is also a very dressy knife, but a bit more than $500.

I couldn't sell the Chaparral for a decent price so I kept it. I don't really need 2 dress folders, but I'm not too upset about it...I like the Chaparral :)

Thanks to all the feedback. This thread introduced me to a lot of really cool knives. Right now I'm on the fence between a WH Atlas or a Mnandi. I will let you know what I end up with! (and pics of course)

Almost forgot. The Spyderco Memory. Beautiful blue anodize, elegant shape, sharp slicy blade. Nice.

The Spyderco Air is another. Beautiful shape, incredibly light, no pocket clip, M4 steel blade. Just class all the way down the line.
