I see a lot of new names contributing to the forum. I would imagine the excitement of the new runs of 5.1s and 4.7s nearing completion has something to do with that :)

If noone has said so yet, Welcome to the Survive! subform!! If you get a moment, say hello, and tell us something about yourself or your knives, or what led you here.

Cheers,

Dave

I'm Lev and I also have a problem. I'm on this forum lurking constantly. Every night I have a ritual of searching YouTube in case a new Survive! video comes out. I have a 4.1 and a 7/7 on order. Oh, and I have yet to even hold a Survive! in person.

Welcome everyone!

Hi there Lev! You've got a couple of good ones on order there I'd say.

I'm Texas_toothpick and I have a problem. I can't stop buying knives and knife accessories!

I see no problem in this statement TT!! ;)

except that it describes me, too :D

Great idea Hard Knocks!
Welcome to all of new people here!
You're all screwed if you're new to Survive! Knives. They're addictive!

Hello,
I'm Junkyard, and I'm a filthy knife whore. And I have been since I got my first knife over 30 years ago. I had it under control for a few years and then I got to meet Guy and Ellie about a month and a half ago. I didn't just fall off the wagon after that, I dove head first. Honestly, I'm okay with it too. Survive's products are just too good resist, so I'm not even gonna try.
Anyway, after meeting them, and seeing their facility and some knives, I found my way back to Bladeforums, and the the Survive! Sub-forum.

Not much else to tell, but thanks for putting up with me.

Welcome to the new faces! The guys here are among the best and friendliest I have have seen and we are always happy to answer questions or wax poetically about all things outdoors/Survive!

Cool idea, HK. I love seeing more traffic around here. Something neat and unique about SURVIVE! is that the company is developing and the new models and updated models make this a pretty dynamic place to be. Also, because of the nature of how things are released, it always gives us something to talk about. I think we all hope you'll get a lot of information here as well as hang out, check in, ask questions and post pics along with your thoughts on your GSO's.

Love always,

Silver Needle

Hi, I have been lurking for a while, I hope this is an ok place for me to post. After going through all of these threads I am stuck between a GSO 4.7 and a GSO 6.

The fixed blades that I have to compare, are my kitchen knives and a mora (4" blade) which I feel is too small and not sure if the .7" of the 4.7 will do it for me, but am worried the 6 is too big. I plan to use this for hiking, mostly food prep and playing around with making traps and fire practice. I wear large size gloves. Would love to buy both, but am saving some $ for the eventual folder and kitchen knives.

Thanks for the advice and looking forwards to my first GSO!

welcome Tech25, i would suggest looking at all the videos of the new 5.1, as the 6 is basically the same knife without a choil. It should give you an idea of if it's too big or not. If you only wanted to get one I would likely suggest the 6 only from the standpoint that you do already have the mora's for any small work you might need to do....but of course we will just suggest becoming a knife addict and buying all the shiny...:D

I been around, just in the wrong forums mostly.. 4.7 will be my 4th, joining 5.1 3v dlc, 10 and 4.1 cpm20

Thanks redwood, I am leaning towards the 6. I have couple of folders and am slowly coming around to fixed blades (at least until the survive folder comes out)

This is one of the most friendly sub-forums within the BladeForums megatropolis. Although I do not post here a ton, I almost always enjoy the quality of the conversations. Along with all the cool member, the fact that Guy and Ellie are incredibly nice, knowledgeable, forthcoming and make KICK ASS knives makes this a really fun place to hang out. I look forward to seeing more new folks that share our love of S!K join the crew here.

Cheers and Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you to bud!
It's definitely a breath of fresh air over on the Survive! thread. Everyone is friendly and helpful.

Howdy Junkyard. It's very cool that you got to stop in the shop. I believe I saw in another thread that you're in Idaho as well. Are you up in the panhandle?

This is absolutely the right place to post, bud. Welcome to the forum, and consider the 5.1, unless you're dead-set against the choil. The 4.7 is available for presale right now, though :)

That's some nice steel. I've been thinking if I pick up a 4.1, I might go for the 20CV. Do you have a lot of use on yours?

I am. I saw that you are familiar with it. If I recall correctly you said you lived South of CDA? Plummer? St. Maries?
I'm just South of Priest River. I love it, even if it is about an Hour and a Half from Survive! When I moved out to Idaho, I really wanted to go to Stanley, but I had to be realistic so I made a compromise, and we moved to CDA. After a year of getting to know the area, CDA just seemed too big so we got out. I'm still planning on buying a little ranch down near Stanley someday though.

Thank you all for the welcome.
