I have never posted on the H.I. forum before but I have spent a lot of time reading the post here. I haven't purchased a kukri yet from Uncle Bill (sorry if I have not earned the right to call you that yet sir :)) but I plan to soon, buy one that is, as well as earning my place here (I hope). Everytime I go and look at the Himalayan Import site I end up just wanting them all and not pulling the trigger on getting one. I do believe that one will not be enough so it shouldn't be that big of a deal to decide where to start. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I enjoy the feel that comes across here. Even more so then the other forums on this site. You treat each other very kindly and with warmth. It does not go unnoticed. So thank you sirs, and ladies. I hope to be able to add something over time and thank you for the knowledge that you all pass along and share so freely.

Welcome! Pull up a chair!

And stay away from Sarge's chili - unless you don't mind sitting alone around the campfire...:D

A hearty welcome to you!:D This is a wonderful place and your assessment of not being able to get just 1 is very accurate! Welcome to HIKV.

Welcome and well met.

stretch out, make yourself at home, ask what you will, and enjoy those of us who are on the street only because of a cut in state funding for the institutions.

Sawubona, ngunjani umfowethu !!

"Hello, how are you my friend!!"

Welcome to the cantina !!

;)

Ain't nothing wrong with my chili Feth, the side effects never last more than a day or so. :D

Sarge

You'll be doing handstands in the shower mornin' after one of Sarge's curry's - so I've heard !!

:)

double burn...

Welcome, feth. Most of the people here are relatively harmless.

If you value your sanity, you won't ask which khuk you should buy first. There's an advocate for almost every one of them. But you probably already know that if you've been browsing here for a while. And someone will always say 'One of each', which is pretty sound advice. (I hope, because that's what I'm doing.).

BTW, did you read "The Silver Spike"? Looks like an interesting book.

Welcome Feth;
You'll be as broke as the rest of us soon. I just ordered my second.

broke - huh !

broke, money is not important as long as you have khuk's !!

Uncle helps us with that !!

:)

Thanks to all for the welcome. I have made several notes from the advice you have given. Don't know if I will be able to follow it or not but we will see. :)

Aardvark-
Yes I did read the book. It is by Glen Cook and is about one of seven or eight in a series called The Black Company. Very good series if you like the style and can find the early ones. The dog on the cover, by the way, is called Toad Killer Dog. Which I think I will name my next cat.

:D

Well, looks like you're going to fit in. Sorry about that.

Thanks for the book recommendation. Read a lot of SF/fantasy, myself.

Welcome, Feth, you can even kick off your shoes, ( long as you leave them outside and hang your feet out the window ).

I do believe that one will not be enough so it shouldn't be that big of a deal to decide where to start.

Well at least you won't be surprised when you look in the closet and find seven khuks staring back at you (with another blem on the way) :D . Welcome to the Cantina too, it's always nice to have a new knut in the house.

Feth, Welcome to the cantina. Hope you enjoy this crazy house. The rest of us sure do. I'm not going to try to tell you what to get first. Partly because I don't know what you want to do with it and you probably already have an idea what you want. What ever it is just enjoy.:D

#1 Look at all the pictures.
#2 Make note of the 1 or 2 you keep going back to.
#2.1 Don't even think about utility.
#3 Ask UBE if he has one in stock.
#4 Send money.
#5 Wait a couple of days.
#6 Try not to act too silly when the triangular box shows up.

Did you know that after you accumulate about a dozen khuks
you have enough triangular boxes to construct a bookshelf?
:D

Welcome.
