BF Brothers, pls bear with me on this review a little bit long.
While perusing the BF section on knife makers and services forum I came across the HellTown Knives and looking at their website, I was impressed by his work, but more impressive were the customers reviews/testimonial. All are praises about Bob Wanamaker’s great workmanship and excellent customer service.
Filled the work order form in their website and sent an Emerson Bulldog that has been useD for years in the ME and Southern Philippines. It has been sharpened using various whetstones, bottom of coffee cups and other abrasive surfaces. This is the Team loaner knife and was used and abused.
Got a call from the Bob and we discussed the work to be done on the Bulldog and Bob told me that might be difficult to put a proper edge on the knife because there might not be enough metal to work with but he said he will do his best. When he quoted me the charges I was shocked when he told me he’s charging me $35.00, I was shocked at the price because the phone call alone takes time away from his workbench .
On Jan 20, 2017 I got an email advising me of a shipment from HellTown Knive. I emailed and asked for my invoice so that i can pay. When I got the package and opened it expecting my Bulldog I was surprised because instead of my Bulldog I’m looking at an Emerson ETAK, with a large skull lanyard. Enclosed was a letter from Bob saying that there was not enough metal on the blade to do what we had earlier discussed , so he sent me his personal knife as a replacement. After overcoming my shock I opened the ETAK and the action was really smooth and super sharp.
I would have settled if he just sent me the Bulldog back and this was really unexpected. BOB WANAMAKER /HellTown Knives, I’M A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!

I too have looked at his web site, but have not gotten around to sending him anything to be worked on. After hearing this and an early review of his work, I will be making it a priority to getting him my favorite EDC to have him work his magic on.

I recall seeing the listing posted by @RLDubbya over in Services. I have been eyeing a couple service providers for potential work, add another one with this post

Bob did another butchered Emerson Mini Comm, the disk area was cut out some more but ended up really bad. Bob replaced the discs, I don’t know how he did it, but it’s there. Did a mini spa and sharpened the Emerson and it’s on my bag for deployment.
