If you sent it through the US Mail you can file a complaint through the Postmaster Generals office.

Otherwise, just keep up the communication and avoid empty threats. Be specific with what you are doing and tell him before you file complaints or other actions under the assumption that he is telling the truth. I had a situation go bad only to finally get the knife after like 4 months had gone by and I had figured it for a lost cause.

Go to the USPS website and they have a wealth of information there. Not sure how to go about it if you went with UPS... Though I'm sure they have some office or designate to handle such matters.

Ultimately, you can file a court case from ou of state in his own county but you would have to go there to present your case which may well cost you more than the knife but it is the prinicple of the thing which some feel makes this a worthwhile action.

Best of luck and hopefully you can get your knife and all will work out.

Better make sure you know the Federal & local laws concerning autos before you involve the feds!

the trade started on a post on the KF forum
but I had hoped to get the better knowledge of this forums membership, as I have been here longer.I am aware of the fed. laws and of course there in lays the rub.

Kent,

If I'm not mistaken this is the guy that was kicked off BF about a year or so ago. Some of the other BF members may remember him. I think he went by Rancherman here. He kept trying to trade home made ghillie suits for knives. He would post psycho stuff and then claim that his dad or his son did that using his ID. He thought that the CIA was sending black unmarked helicopters after him. He also said that he was making bombs and threatened to blow somebody up. I hope that I'm wrong but, if this is the guy, you have quite a challenge ahead of you. Good luck.

Cordially,

Dave

Dave,

The person formerly known as Rancherman is none other than Morgan D. Atwood, now known as Satin on BFC. Mr. Atwood has put his past behind him. Mr. Atwood and all his aliases all lived in New Mexico. I don't think Mr. Atwood is at fault here.

Now, Gunner (Geoff something or other) was the guy that was always trying to trade off his ghillie suits. If I am not mistaken, he and his aliases lived in Vancouver, British Columbia.

I'm sure that you mean no harm and it is possible that crooks can change their addresses...but you're mixing your identities here.

Kindest Regards,

P9999

Finally, I can helpa realknife man. If the value of the knife is greater than 500 bucks its normally in most States a low level felony of Theft by Deception. If the value is over a grand its a high level Felony and its big league Thsft by Deception. Also you can file a small claims in Your State, pay the Sheriff's department in his State ( County level) and of course he will not show and you win by default an the Court cuts an order of execution which again you have us (Law Enforcement) serve the papers. There are a few other means, all legal to get your property or your money back ASAP. E-mail me at wolfmann@aol.com and lets talk. I am learning so much abouit knives from you guys, if I can help, its a supreme honor....wolf

Paranoid999,

Thank you for correcting me. I now remember much more clearly the events surrounding those parties. I was most definitely in error. To the former Rancherman and Gunner, I offer my sincere apology for involving your identities in this problem. Thanks, again to you, Paranoid999, for correcting my blunder.

Cordially,

Dave
