Help a dummy?

That's exactly what I'm doing, I'm even able to upload pics to threads just not my avatar. When I try it says that file is to larg, even after I down size the pic or try from a different file. Then I thought maybe it's my computer so then I tried on my wife's iPad and I got the same thing. Idk I'll try tinkering with it some more.
 
You goota be below 120x90 pixels AND 9kb

i just open a pic.in paint and resize it until it fits. Paint will also tell you the propeties as well.
