Got this request the other day.

I have a friend in Roseburg Or. who knows someone retiring who is looking for a knifemaker in the Roseburg area to help him get started making knives (new hobby).

Anyone in the area who could help this guy out? Do you know of someone who I could point him to?

Thanks,
Jon

Hammer Ins are good for teaching as well as books and videos. You probably wont find to many folks looking for apprentices.

J.S.- I don't think he's looking to be an apprentice, just looking for someone to visit with and get a feel of where to start.

Raymond, Didn't think of that. I'll send the address to help him get going.

Thanks to both of you,
Jon

If he's willing to make the drive and also willing to work with my erratic schedule, he's welcome to come and visit my shop, hammer some steel, put together guards, bolsters, handles, etc. I'm in Vancouver, WA. It's about a three hour drive each way for him.

Jon, Wayne Goddard is in Eugene and has always been willing to help anyone that is willing to learn.
