I’m a lifelong hunter and I have always carried and appreciate a good knife. Recently I’ve caught the “fine” knife bug though and I’ve bought several Winklers. Now that I’ve discovered CPK I want a couple.
Does anybody everyday carry the field knife? Or is it just too big to edc it? I’m having a hard time deciding on buying the field knife or the edc/edc2. Either one will be used for everyday carry, hunting, fishing, camping, etc...
I will eventually buy both but for now I’m trying to refrain from going off the deep end and purchasing both at the same time.
Maybe buying whichever becomes available first in the CPK BUY/SELL/TRADE is my best bet?
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Field knife

I live on a lake in the boonies and my internet is pretty poor. From what I’ve seen those knives go super quick, right?

Thanks for the feedback gents. I’m 6’2” and 205 so I think I can pull off everyday carry with the FK. I will probably buy the first one that comes available if I’m being honest with myself. This knife “bug” has bitten me hard...

I highly doubt you’ll be disappointed with the FK.
Best all-around fixed blades I’ve ever owned.

You should try this Friday. The Field knives were available for a long time during the last Friday sale. Or you could ask for a proxy. I would proxy for you, but I’ll be at work this Friday.

I’ve been carrying my EDC2 after work every day since I got it (can’t carry it at my job). Not a day goes by that I don’t use it for something. My FK is cryin the blues since it just doesn’t get the workout the EDC does. As others have said it’s a choice but I’d recommend the EDC as a first buy if you had to choose.

^^^ This! You may want to consider trying to score a thinner/harder version of the FK2 on Friday.

I've used the EDC in D2 steel and the EDC2 in Delta 3V steel for game prep and they both worked outstanding. I drug along my FK2 this year on my bow hunt but didn't get a chance to use it, so I can't report on differences between the EDC and FK2. I have a thinner/harder version of the FK2 on order and this will likely be my go to knife for my next hunt.

Here's a link to the weekly sales thread:

You can't go wrong with either model. You will likely have more than the two you're considering.

Good luck!

Wow, thanks for all the incredible feedback. Y’all talked me into it, I will be waiting on Friday to scoop one up!

I honestly had no idea how addicting knives could be. I should have known, seeing as though I’m a total gun nut but I just didn’t see it coming. I bought a few Winklers, found this forum, and I’m ruined. Haha.

I know there are a ton of incredible knife makers on this forum, and I plan to buy plenty of their work but I immediately fell in love with CPK knives. I’m so looking forward to getting a few CPK’s, other knives, and enjoying all the good people and knowledge on this forum.
Thanks to each of you for helping out a new guy.
Come on Friday......

One last thought.. I’m sure over time I will buy some proverbial “safe queen” knives that I won’t use but I plan to use the crap out of most of them. Is that crazy to use the heck out of 3-500+ dollar knives? They are tools to me so why not right?

I carry an EDC2 probably 70% of the time ... if not I have a FK2 or a similar size 8"to 10" range and a smaller fixed blade ...like a Winkler Jaeger or SD1. Both are great knives ... I never feel like I'm under-knifed if carrying the EDC2 and I never feel like I'm going overboard if the FK2 is on my belt. I always have a folder of some sort in my pocket too for small tasks.

Go with whichever appeals most to you unless you have restrictions that would point you towards the smaller knife.

I’ve got the Winkler Jaeger set to arrive Friday. Looking forward to getting my hands on it. Since it’s a 3.5” blade I think going with the CPK FK is the way I’m going to go.
