Help a newbie out

Lots of replys up here but want to give you my two cents.

I own fk thanks to amazing forum member and i do everyday carry it with me.

Im 6'1" and bit less than 190lb. When i recieved it i was thinking how to carry it. It had its kyndex shealth with tech lock for belt. For around hour ive experimented with different possitions of tech lock on kyndex and different possitions of knife on my belt to be practical and comfortable for me to edc carry it. Parallel attached on front, side, back of the belt. 45 degree attached on different sides with handle up of course. But everytime i thought that i found the right position for me something was still wrong... even for guy of my height and body knife was bit too big to carry on belt with tech lock.

There is one variant for this kyndex what guys are used to do here usually, called something like drop loop if im not wrong. You attach it to shealth and it got some length and then attach to belt, so blade handle is lower than belt (ofc handle is up). This way it will be a lot comfortable for guy like me who feels uncomfortable with big knife on belt, but it has disadvantage.. blade will play around while walking, running etc...

So ive took off tech lock and attached braided black rope to kyndex shealth to carry in style which im used too and which for me is practical and comfortable for knife like this. It doest stick badly around like when carried on belt and doesnt play on leg and disturn when drop look carried. For me this is the best way as i can sit, walk, run and jump around freely and quickly deploy blade with just pulling it out from kyndex. Those shealth are amazing in my opinion in terms of practical use. Tho leather shealths and other variantions are just visual beauty.

Now about using fk itself. For fixed blades of any size 3v is best choice in my opinion. Nathants wizardy and black magic created beast out of it called delta 3v. Practically almost stainless and toughter than diamond, bombproof steel which is yet easy to care and sharpen. So steel is amazing.
Size is medium and as called for field use, hunting, fishing, bushcraft etc. So ive carried it around with me everyday after getting up from bed till night, laying on bed lol, so ive used and carried it nonstop around last 3 weeks. Its great for almost every task but there had been situations when wished to have smaller knife for tasks where more control in handling is needed and fk because of its blade length is bit large and not as easy to maneuver and control, like nathans edc is with its 3inch blade.

So to cut long story short my conclusion is next, if you are on low budget and cant afford both fk and edc then fk is best choice. But if you have extra momey to afford and add edc to your collection then i think it will replace fk for everyday use.
You know nathan and people in cpk are smart thats why they called their knifes that way.

To say about me i still carry around fk everyday but also there is para2 sometimes para3 in my pocket for smaller utility knife.
And to be honest if i had nathans edc i would carry it everyday instead of paramilitary and evenmore would hang fk at home and only carry that when i would go countryside and when i would know that i would need it to use... otherwise nathans edc is real go everywhere and for everyday life situation knife which you can carry without any other knife and dont be worried as it wont betray you.
Tho sadly because of my life situations i cant afford it at the moment...

Sorry if been to boring just honestly wanted to share with you.

Peace and may god be with you.

Nick, thanks so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it! That’s a pretty slick idea to use the rope to carry your field knife! That will work perfect during cold months when I’m wearing a jacket all day. Also, like you, I’m not crazy about leather sheaths for everyday carry. They are beautiful but I prefer kydex for everyday use.
Im definitely going to end up buying the edc/edc2 in the near future but first up is the field knife I believe. Hopefully I can snag one Friday! Thank you for your response, sir! It is greatly appreciated. The folks on this forum are awesome and incredibly helpful. I look forward to getting to know you all!

^^^This. Started last year and within about 6 months I had 6. Down to 4 now, but I'm sure there will be more to come...

Man, don’t I know it! Haha.

I’m in the process of losing my dang mind over all these incredible blades. I’ve got a Winkler Jaeger arriving in the mail tomorrow and I’m already clearing my schedule for tomorrow so I can be free for the CPK sale. I’m doing finger calisthenics on my refresh finger. Lol

For ~20 years I only bought production knives. Came here in 2016 and held out for about 3 years, and then in 2019 the damn burst and bought a bunch of CPKs, a couple Shannon Steel Labs, and now have a Redmeadow on order. Hoping to add a Scott Hanson at some point too. Good thing I got a decent tax refund:D:thumbsup:

I feel your pain...
I’ve always been the type that once I fall in love with something I jump in head first... and I’ve just jumped. Haha.

You got a good deal on that one, Flogger Flogger .
I almost grabbed it last night; but held off because I'd seen this thread. If I'd noticed the last price drop, I wouldn't have waited, lol.

BTW, I usually carry my FKs (original and fk2) inverted...I find it works quite well for me. No problem accessing the handle to draw the knife, even when untucked or wearing an outer layer.

Im a newb for sure but I thought that was a good deal too. What does the FK2 usually sell for brand new?

Also, did you notice the sheath that came with the knife? Can I carry that sheath inverted like what you described or will I need an adapter of some kind?

For everyone wondering what the heck I’m talking about, I found a CPK FK2 for sale in the main b/s/t. I’m a gluten I suppose...

Again, I really appreciate everyone’s feedback and help. So glad I found this forum, despite the fact it’s going to drain my wallet.

What, nobody everyday carries a Behemoth?

... bunch of nancies....

Nathan, can’t wait to get the field knife of yours. I’m new to “fine” knives but I immediately fell in love with your work. I watched some torture tests of your knives last night on YouTube. Not that I will bust cinder blocks with your knives but it’s nice to know I could..

Pricing depends on one's scale choice - I don't recall the $$, offhand...I think from around $305-335. Easiest way to find out is to look at the most recent sale. I know burlap is one of the higher priced options; and I'm guessing there's an upcharge for titanium fasteners. If the teklok is included, you can carry it inverted; you'd just have to remove the dangler. I think I had a picture of mine - I'll be back

*edited to add image
Found it. This is with the sheath in stock configuration, I didn't change the teklok placement.

I've never liked the teklok but also never thought of carrying that way. I like it!

Sitting here gazing out the window waiting for my best friend to arrive, the mail man. Lol

Last night the tracking said my package was delayed and I’m not going to lie, I felt major disappointment. This morning the tracking suddenly said out for delivery! Yeehaw! Just wanted to thank you fine folks for all the great help. This forum is full of wonderful folks with tons of knowledge but the Carothers sub forum truly rocks!

Can’t wait to get the FK2 in hand!
