I am thinking of getting one of these two knives. I am not sure which one is better. What do you guys think?

The blade on this one is AUS-8

The blade on this one is AUS-6

I think the AUS-8 is better?

Thanks

AUS 8 is perceived to be better, yes. My AUS8 does noticeably outperform my AUS6, but I'm not especially impressed with either. Other people don't seem to share this issue, but my AUS knives are the only ones that have a problem with chipping. But the edge retention is acceptable on AUS8.

AUS-8 is better, certainly on CRKT knives (it is CRKT, right?). Their AUS-6 isn't too good.

Yes thank you, they are CRKT knives. I wouldn't mind owning one of the real Crawford knives.......just not sure about spending that much right now.

if the black one is the current crkt crawford kasper "tactical" it blade is made of 420j2.......sorry mate

Yes it is the current one. It sounds like the old professional model (I tracked one down) is the way to go.

Welcome to the party! It's always good to get new blood in the forums or things get dull.

Here is some info that may be of help in analyzing knife blade steel. Steel is less important in making a good knife in my opinion than blade design and grind, handle configuration, locking mechanism, and heat treatment of the steel.

Here is some good basic knife info.

Err the old pro is the best way to go. The knife handles VERY nicely and is VERY egronomically. You'll love it
