Help/ Advise needed: Benchmade 585 Axis Lock Fail?

Hi,

I need some help from the axis lock experts...

I have a brand new Benchmade Mini Barrage 585. I have it since yesterday. It is my first Benchmade.

Tonight, while opening and closing it, suddenly (and without any indication why) it wouldn't retain the fully folded state. Very strange! It still locks when folded out, the safety lock still works (both states blade in and out), but it will not stay fully folded! :eek:

Is this something I can fix myself or do I need to send it back?

I just received it via Ebay from an American seller to Germany. The price (including import duty) was still better than if I had bought it in Germany. So I would not like to send it over the pond again :(

Any pointers appreciated.

I'd send it back to Benchmade. I don't own that knife, but that is just not right.
 
You sure it's the axis? I had something similar happen to my BM pardue.

Some lint got jammed in the bottom groove and it would bounce back (not lock). Happened all of a sudden and it scared the crap out of me. Yours looks somewhat similar. Check if there's something dirty/clean it up.

Can you close the knife by doing what you did in the clip, but also pulling back the axis lock at the same time? (Pull back the axis, hold it, and close the blade)

GL, hope you can it fixed if the axis has a problem or at least send it back without losing on shipping.

William, my hero!

I have blown into the lock and poured a good amount of Ballistol oil into the knife. Now it works! It locks again. Yeah! Thank you. :)

I will amend the fist post to resolved. :)
