Help authenticate strider knife

I have a rule of thumb, that may help you from feeling this way in the future. If I am buying something that i think may not be what I think it is, I do not pay more than what the value would be for that item, if it turns out to not be what I think it is.
The problem is I don’t know what a real strider is worth I know knew they range from 160 up but used idk I did a quick search after buying it and before just to see prices lol.

One look at the first picture I could tell it was a fake. It looks like the fakes sold on DH gate and AliExpress. Put a magnet to the lockside and you will
see it is probably steel. On a real Strider the lock side is titanium.

The chances of finding a real Strider for 55$ bucks are pretty much next to zero. Someone would have to have zero idea what knife they had to sell it for a price like that.

There are no deals that good in buying knives. Sometimes you can find a 500$ knife for 400$. But you aren’t going to find a “wholesale” Strider for $55.

If you find one for $160, it's fake as all hell.
Or stolen...the only way you get a $500 knife for $160 is if it's stolen.

If you look long and hard enough you can find some very good deals on Striders, but no where near what you paid. There is a "very" rare pawn shop find that is extremely low(but not that low), but most are fools gold, and those people have more than paid in losses (100's of times over)for that rare find.
IMO paying a fair price to a reputable person or business is the wiser use of money, unless you know all the details of these knives, and even then it can be tricky on the better done clones.
Rules prohibit me from being more specific on pricing.

What I meant to say, if it wasn’t clear, look at the knife and put a value on it based on what you do and do not know about it. If you say to yourself that if it turns out to be a mass produced clone with lesser materials, it would only be worth $X, don’t pay more than $X for it.

Thanks for all the replies I’ll upload pictures of my original Baily that I only paid $10 for I’m pretty sure it’s an 80s we’ll see if that is real too lol.

In pre-internet days, sometimes you'd find amazing deals from people who didn't know the value of goods they were selling.
It is so easy to find out what things cost now that those deals are literally a thing of the past.

Unless you happen to find some sort of hermit who avoids technology to buy from. ;)
Or have the sort of luck that enables some folks to win multiple million dollar jackpots.

Something that caught my eye was the BOS stamp. I have never seen original Strider knives stamped with his logo. Maybe it will turn out to be legitimate.

FYI.

I bought a Colt .38 revolver for $150, then about ten years later traded it to the same store for a $500 plate carrier with level 3A plates. :)
Turned out it should have been about $100 less due to the brand of plate carrier they were using, but whatever.

I have a buddy who has done well on gun trades/sales in the past, but it was with private sellers. Many of them knew what the price was supposed to be, but got tired of waiting for a buyer, or wanted what was being traded enough that the disparity in value was acceptable to them.

I like gun buying and selling I wish I kept the colt though it was a beautiful gun.
