Help Authenticating Knife

There's a thread up in the "stickies" (threads at the top of the first page of the Cold Steel subforum) specifically dedicated to counterfeits. It's entitled "Counterfeit, anyone?". I noticed that they discuss the Code 4 on the last page, maybe elsewhere in that thread as well.

But if you have questions about a knife being a counterfeit you're not required to post it there. You can start a new thread just like this one.
Thanks. I added a link to this thread there. Maybe it’ll help someone.

Here’s something circumspect with a magnifier…check out the blurry “R” symbol, as well as the ‘T’ and ‘A’s’ in Taiwan on my Code 4:

No offense intended, but at this point I think you're being a bit obsessive. It seems like you're trying to convince yourself that it's fake.

In the absence of solid evidence one way or the other, all you're left with is "faith", either you're willing to believe that it's real, or not. I don't consider extremley minute variances in the printing to be proof of anything, except maybe that the printing machine isnt perfect and occasionally puts out a tiny bit of extra paint.

I just checked one on my Ti-lites that still has it's logos, it has two "registered" "R"s, and they are both distinctly different from each other. I bought it from BladeHQ, so I'm quite confident it's real.

Like I said, no offense intended :).

EDIT: I just compared the printing on two of my Ti-lite 6's, both purchased from BladeHQ, and there are minute yet distinct variances. But those variances are only really noticeable with a magnifying glass. I have no concerns regarding the authenticity of these knives.

No offensive taken…

I do think that I have a real knife, especially after using it quite a bit today and the edge still remaining sharp.

I’ll stop harping about my knife, but I would like to see some kind of way to validate real from fake Cold Steels. I totally get that I’m being obsessive about this, but I am genuinely concerned that it’s becoming all but impossible to tell a real knife from a fake, and I really don’t want people getting hurt.

In general, high-end counterfeits that are indistinguishable from the original appear only in the case of very valuable antiques, otherwise they are not worth the effort. It is very unfortunate that this could be happening with budget knives like these.

If CS hadn’t repeatedly shown how much someone could abuse their stuff before failure, I wouldn’t be so concerned.

But when I see Lynn Thompson hacking through 2x4s, or Andrew Demko hanging hundreds of pounds off of the tirad lock to show how much abuse it can take, it makes me worried that some teenager could really hurt themself with a fake.

I know that I’m beginning to sound like a broken record here, but I think this is worthy of said concern.
