The stainless liner lock of the Starmate's probably gonna have more longevity to it than the titanium one on the AFCK. I've never recommended a Spydie over a BM, but considering what it seems you're looking for in terms of size, this seems right; of course, BM would always replace the liner for you if need be.
If you could conceivably get past the thumb hole issue, the BM 710 Axis that you mentioned is a heck of a choice in that it defies lock wear.
I don't think that one is really better than the other, and that's why other than personal preference, no one can give you a definitive answer to your question. I'd go with which one feels right in the hand, and what about legal blade length where you live?
