help building belt grinder

Guys i just joined this sight and im so happy i did . Im almost done building my 2x72 and i need some help on it also im having trouble line up all the wheels i also need a caster wheel like the one on this thread

EBay is where I found caster wheels for a good price. I need to order some soon. That's next for my build. What trouble are you having with the alignment?

Im eyeballing the wheels and they look close but i havent got in the mail my belts yet . I think i might have to wait till i put an actual belt on the machine . I made a belt out of 1inch and it tracks alright not perfect but im worried it wont track with the two inch

I dont want to highjack this hread its not mine excuse me if im in the wrong .i need to start another thread with help on building my grinder

This thread was dying I'm glad it's alive again. Do you have pics? I have been wondering how I was going to align my wheels.

That makes me happy that i didnt impose on your theead l. Do have pictures and ill post them as soon as i learn how to , im a mechanic and i repair large and small equipment i have access to alot of parts and tools it has been real easy for me but my problem is i get picky amd want everything perfect i have some knifes made just not heat treated and i want to make more so i can send them all together to get heat treated . But i want my new machine up and going im tired of using old machine that is slow and not to good very underpowered . I grinded some s30v and it took me two hours on each side . So ill post some pics hopefully we can help each other .

Lol, I'm taking pictures of all my progress. Forge, grind, handle, 2 x 72 build ect... just haven't figured out how to post yet also. I need my wheels soon. Then need to figure out how to align. I'm thinking a straight edge on the side of the wheels.

If you already have a treadmill motor, go with it. I've converted lathes with AC motors over to DC using treadmill motors. There is no reason you should need to upgrade in the future. Buy an MC60 controller, they are the most common and the wiring is simple. Although it might be simpler to buy a used treadmill and strip it down so you'll have all the electronics. Older treadmills are better, simpler. Matter of fact, I will be starting a 2x72 grinder this fall and already have a dc motor with electronics for it.

What he said! ^^^ I have used Treadmill motors for grinders/Discs with no Problem. If they can be hooked up to a Controller and are at least 1HP or bigger use it! I would pass on the caster wheels.
