Help choosing a fixed blade from Eddie White

Hello all. One of my first few posts here, and I'd like some of your thoughts. I hike and camp in the Canadian Rockies and carry right now a BM mini-Rukus, but am looking for a nice fixed blade. I love Eddie White's knives (shadowknives), and have narrowed it down to two blade styles (pics below). Any opinions on what blade shape would be better/worse as an all-around, camping, whittling, light-chopping, etc., hiking/camping blade? Or are we down to a simple matter of personal preference. Pics borrowed from Eddie's site. Thanks.

welcome to BF and the WSS...:)

i have always liked eddie's work, but have yet to obtain one...:o one of these days...

i think i would choose the second one for sure.. it looks more suitable for woods carry...

bladefrienzy, i just refreshed the page and the second photo popped up...if that doesn't work click "quote" and then copy and paste the second image URL.

my vote would go to the second one. the tip is thicker, making it a little more robust for various whittling and carvings tasks, as well as for batonning if you do any of that.

i would be happy with either though...

Definetly the second, just looks woodsy.
Also though it has a flat grind which is a fav and that drop point is beautiful.

fonly, from what i know (and from what i can judge from the pictures) i think that almost all of White's knives are hollow ground.

I only see one picture, but for general EDC work I'd recommend the Model IX, blade length between 4 and 5 inches. Eddie does fantastic work and is pretty quick with his turnaround. Here's mine:

BTW, he can do flat grinds as well.
