help choosing a kershaw!

I just got a S30V Blur in the mail today, and I can see why people are so into them. For the size it's very light, feels good in hand, great blade shape, opens fast, great lockup, clip could be a little deeper for tip-up carry but it's fine, and the jimping might as well not be there but the inserts give tons of traction. Going to carry it for a few days and see how it goes; I was really excited to get a Cryo 2 but it's a similar size to the Blur and I think I'll prefer carrying the Blur over the Cryo 2 mainly due to the weight difference.

I don't see myself being one of the people that collect just Blurs, but can see why people do; I do, however, want to get a second with a cool colored handle to run with the S30V blade (if anyone has a colored handle with a trashed blade they want to sell email or pm me :) )

Thanks again guys. I'll probably make a frankenblur lol.

@ j_curd it will be part of my edc rotation. I work at a craft store so I cut pallet straps, zip ties and things like that. I own a couple mini grips but I'm looking for something a lil bigger. I do carry a utility blade but its just too small sometimes. I also like using my edc's for food prep.... and fondling :)

Frankenblurs are fun!

So here are some considerations.

Rake - awesome ergos, big belly blade, pretty much a dedicated flipper, carries wide, heaviest, awesome blade steel. Most intimidating but also probably the toughest overall.

Piston - about as light as a Blur, very cool machining on blade/scales/spacer, for me the least ergos of the three but plenty good enough. Flips well AND has great thumb studs like a Blur.

Blur - the sleeper of the group; light, tough, deceptively fantastic ergos that darn near everyone likes, and rather unassuming. A pleasure to carry daily, it doesn't have many (any?) bad traits carried tip up.

All three have similarly durable and tough liner locks...much much more reliable than the average knife.

Comments on the knockout compared to these?
My main concern was if the handle is too slick. I don't think I mind either way now.

I don't own a Knockout but have handled one on several occasions. To be honest, the aluminum is a little slick for me, but the overall design of the handle allows it to fit perfectly in hand. The sub-frame lock makes it sturdy as hell, and inspires just a tad more confidence than a liner lock.

That being said, my own Blur has never let me down. I love the grip I can get thanks to the Trac-Tec inserts. And the big, beefy blade simply destroys anything I put it up against. I think no matter what direction you go, you'll have a fine blade.

Don't be afraid of the Kershaw Chinese made knives. They are up to spec of Kershaw. Good materials, esp the steel, good fit and finish. I just got the Kershaw Crown and love it (a thumbstud not an AO). Also got a Kershaw Buck style (made in China) - also the same good quality of materials, fit and finish. I'm impressed with the China made Kershaw knives.
