I would go for a hacksaw with bi-metal blades for cutting the blanks and use the money you would have spent on an angle grinder for a nice belt grinder instead of a bench grinder. I have the craftsman 2x42 belt grinder currently and I love it. The reason to go for a belt grinder is that with a bench grinder you would get a hollow grind from the wheel, which would be more fragile in a throwing knife, whereas a belt grinder gives you the option between hollow and flat, flat or skandi being preferred for a thrower (although I'd recommend not having a sharp edge on a thrower at all). A belt grinder also gives you a lot more versatility than you might get with a bench grinder.
