Help choosing BM for friend.

I showed a buddy my 710HSSR and he likes it. Now he wants one but a little smaller, he said 2.5-3" blade and around $85, what to get?
 
When I was shopping for my 710 M2 , I also considered the 705, 707 & 720.
Although some of those are now discontinued, so you might have to hunt around, but the 705 was my favorite as a smaller alternative to the 710
 
I showed him the 525SBK which sells for around $110 online and he said that's fine, I like how he jumped from nothing over $85 to $110 is fine :P

Personally I think he should get the 705SBT if I can find him one, it's only around $90 from what I'm seeing online, and it's basically a mini 154CM version of my 710HSSR
 
RTTR, if you haven't handled them, the 705 and 710 are two knives that look similar but have very different ergonomics. I love my 710HS and I just flat out don't like the feel of my 705. I'd actually recommend the 525 your friend was looking at over the 705.

Let me be clear that this is a personal thing - lots of people like the 705. But I think evryone who started with a 710 agrees that a 705 feels really different.

On the other hand if a big part of what your friend loves about the 710 is the aesthetics, rather than the ergos, then absolutely get him a 705.

Awww, just get him the mini-Grip. Either D2 or vanilla. Great knife for the $.
 
Well, looks like he went ahead and bought one while I was at work, he left a message saying he bought the 525 combo edge.
