Help choosing camp/backpacking fixed blade- need comparisons

I haven't tried one but I have a file knife made below the quality of them but maybe an anza boddington, duneslayer or dune field

@pinnah- I've watched that virtuovice clip. He's really entertaining! And I know that a Mora out and do 98% of what I need. I own a Mora companion but a scandi grind isn't what I want in my next knife.

I've received lots of suggestions for alternatives. I'm taking a harder look at the Fiddleback Bushfinger. If only there was a version with a half inch more blade! Keep the suggestions coming and please, if anyone can give me a comparison between the Benchmade Bushcrafter and a S!K GSO I'd be indebted!

Again, not suggesting the Mora. I'm really not.

Just reflecting on how poorly fixed blades fit into my backpacking.

Good conversation, keep them coming, I was wondering if a production version of the Fiddlebacks would work? Esee4 may be a good candidate too.

I only have the gso 4.1. For what it's worth, it's a fine knife. I however keep going back to my becker bk 16. In most ways the 4.1 is the better blade. The steel is better, handle material is better, sheath is nicer (though I feel it needs the extension to ride lower). But for some reason, I still prefer my becker and it sees much more time than the gso outside. I will still carry my 4.1 from time to time and I don't have anything negative to say about it. But for the price point, I would much rather have the becker at 1/3 the cost.

I have the Benchmade bushcraft. The handle is just big enough for my extra large hands and feels fabulous to hold. For interior Canoe camping I take a larger blade in D2 as well for night bear defence. The Benchmade sheath is just adequate, but the dongle will work well with a rucksack. As a medium priced knife it is seriously robust and will keep an edge for a week.

@pinnah- thanks for all the advice. I can see how tussling with an object interfering with pack straps would be a hassle. I'm considering mounting options to attach to my shoulder straps. We'll see.

Thanks guys for all the info and suggestions. Maybe I'll go the Becker route and get some micarta scales and call it a day. Anyone who has feedback on the GSO line against something like a Benchmade Bushcraft or Fiddleback production blades please feel free to chime in. Perhaps I'll post a follow up in the S!K hosted channel.

I love my scandi grind Enzo trapper 115 in 01 steel. light weight and cuts thru thangs like butter...as a female I need a knife that I don't have to ape arm it to work.

+1 on the BK.

Tops Fieldcraft?
Tops Brakimo?
Ontario SK5?
Helle GT?
LT Wright Genesis?

As for Esse I like the 4 but I like the grip on the 6 better if you think you may be chopping. In that case I'd carry something smaller to pair with it. I really like BHK knives and have a small workhorse. Good looking knives and it hasn't let me down. I had the opportunity to handle LT Wright knives at Blade last year. I regret not coming home with one. The Genesis is too heavy for me but if you're good with the extra weight...... Many of the TOPS knives are too overbuilt but some of them are fantastic. Esse, TOPS, and LT Wright also have great warranties. I've tried the bushcrafter from Benchmade and they just didn't do it for me. I love some of their folders but I'd prefer some of the others mentioned for a fixed blade.
