I have many nice knives, but haven't had a traditional since I lost my Barlow in 1973. I want something I can pinch to open as I chew my nails too short to use a nail nick. Probably 150$ tops, maybe D2 if possible. If you could suggest some brands and some sponsor retailers I would be grateful. Thanks, Russ

IIRC queen is one of the only makers of traditional knives using D2 at the moment, they have quite a range. .

I just received a great northwoods fremont jack , it is 1095 not d2 but the blade is very easily pinchable. If you were looking for something other than the easy open pattern, this is a really nice one in my opinion. Good luck

In that budget I would probably grab a Great Eastern Cutlery Northfield 85 in stag. It's 1095, not D2, but the clip is a good easy pull.

What blade configuration where you looking for? (Sinlge, multi, Clip Main ....) Any closed length?

GEC single clip blade #15. Forum sponsor KnivesShipFree has 3 in stock for $85. 1095 blade, takes a nice edge and patina. click me

I like grandad barlows. Schatt and Morgan has one in Ats34, and Queen has one in D2 if you can find one (Queen/Burke collab).

I have a Queen gunstock pattern in D2 steel, with a really unique jigged bone handle. The main blade is fairly easy to open, but I dont know about pinching it open though. You may want to look into something like that. The blade says #40 on it. Hopefully that helps.

Some good prospects here guys. Single blade, open to different blade styles, maybe sodbuster or sheepsfoot. Russ

My bad, I probably asked the question improperly. Is there a list of traditional dealers? Russ

My apologies, I shall remember for next time.

I hope there is but I doubt it. Otherwise the monitor would put a link to it with his or her correction:) Like has been posted above just ask in the good, the bad and the ugly subforum. That should get some answers:thumbup:

The Case mini copperlock is pretty popular. It can be had in stainless and CV. The stainless looks good if you put a satin finish on it. I used to pinch the blades open with one hand, not opening the knife completely to tamp a pipe.

That knife looks like it would do what I want. I remember as a kid when my knife was jangling around with my change, want to try that again. Russ

1973 for traditionals then a Schrade, a buck then the sickness started. Many knives, no traditionals. Russ
