I bought this knife sometime in the mid '80's. Black handle, blade has 422 with 1 dot behind the number.

My first lockblade.

Thanks for any help

Come on Buck Experts! Maybe at least tell me where I can find out.

Sorry, the experts are busy at the moment... :)

(Is it a drop-point or a clip-point???)

Chickentrax,

It's a clip with black handle.

Where do you guys get the dating codes?

Thanks again

Nice read but sort'a leaves the issue hanging doesn't it. I went to the Buck web site and couldn't find anything about 422's with 1 dot behind the number.

In 1986 (I believe, the Buck experts can correct me, if I'm wrong...) the date stamp system came into being. In 1986, the date stamp was <. All of the date stamps from 1986 to 2005 can be found on this web page. Since your 422 has the dot dating system, it would date your knife to being produced before 1986. More specific than that, I cannot be.

Thanks

That is the same problem I ran in to

Send an email to Joe Houser at Buck knives. He pops in here every now & then when time allows. One of the other Buck experts may also chime in shortly & give you the answer you're looking for.

Since the Bucklite was introduced in 1984, the single dot puts your knife in 1984 or 1985. I think that's as accurate as anyone can get for you.
