Help dating a Case

I purchased new 2 case knives from a shop recently and it appears they have been in stock for a while. My research indicates they were made in 1996. I have attached a link to an image of the tang stamp. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks very much!

Is it unusual to be able to buy 10 yr old Case knives "new" with the box / papers etc..? The pricing seems to be in line with what the newly made models are going for.. Thanks again for the help.

It's not unheard of, I found some 6292 Large Case Jack's in a hardware store last year, from 1992. They were buried in the bottom of a display case.
