Help Decide, Keep a blade I havent yet recieved. NMFSH

Yup, he described an FSH, though finding a flat ground in .25 will be trickier than the .27 & .32 versions. Most of the .25's are convex saber like this one.

True! I forgot about that... The production run all had a slight convex saber.

And the NMSFNO and SARsquatch have the convex saber too.

Very much appreciate the pics.

Foo, love the Fusion handle, everthing Id hoped it would be. Stupid question: Are all the Fusion handle the same size, just different thickness and blade lengths, thru the different models.

Convex saber works for me, makes a lot of sense in all the above me blades. Dont get me wrong, love this knife in this thickness, wouldnt want much less in a chopper, and paired w/ a 4 to 6 inch blade, not much they couldnt handle, knife wise. (or knife/hatchet combo) However, thickness combined w/ the length, makes this more of a pack knife vs a belt knife for me. (5' 10", 185lbs) I could wear it on belt but, some of the others, little shorter/thinner, would be more easily carried on person. I guess some do, Ive seen pics, but even the FSH (Same length?) seems a little long for me to belt carry, even on a drop leg.

Would love to see side by sides w/ SFNO, HHFSH,.. even a TG. Problem is I havent seen much less held any of these in person, really need to get to a show or an event.

Again, love this thing and the NM job..is awesome. love the rounded spine. I thought I read that this model in NM didnt have a full rounded spine, only partial..so I was very happy to see it.

Just gonna have to find a way get and keep 'em all, we'll see how that goes.

Thanks again for all the input, fellas.

Don't get stressed over a knife you bought. You can always sell it and get another one you want.
Real stress comes after you sell a knife and miss it much LOL And this is ALWAYS a case :)
And that's when you start hunting it back and once it back you still want another one :D
I love my NMFSHLE

The Fusion handle is the same on all fusions... The variation comes in from both blade thickness and magnum versus standard slab thicknesses. Then there's the hand shaped, which tend to be closer to the mag handle thicknesses. Me... I prefer standard handles on the thick blades (.30+)' and mags on the thinner (.25 -) blades. But this is really an individual, how it fits the hand thing.

Full rounded Nuclear Meltdown versus the BIG finish meltdown... Here is a pic of the full NM treatment, so you can see the difference...

I'd love to post a pic of all these side by side for you... But it'll be a couple of months before I have access to my full collection. :grumpy: This is the best I can do for now... An older pic, and the collection is pretty different now, but it may help. Top row is all mistresses, steel hearts are in the lower right, NMSFNOs are in the upper left second row down, the SARsquatches and sfnos are just below that.

If you want a belt knife, I really think you should look into the SARsquatch or the NMSFNO (1" longer that the SFNO, with the NM treatment). I imagine the TGLB would be pretty light due to the Light Brigade treatment, but I don't have any of those as they're not my preferred blade style for the woods.

How far off the reservation are you? What state? I have to believe there's a porker out there somewhere near you.

Hope this helps!

ETA: not sure if you realize, but the NMFSHs have 1" longer blade with NM treatment, than the FSHs and HOGFSHs

Gress, wasnt stressing too bad, been thu' this w/ other brands and yes, always more of an issue w/ a knife (or anything) you had and let go.

Thanks for the pics, Foo. Quite the stable you have there. Oh, how did you know? The pic of that beautiful, full melt butt in my face...(Im gonna need a minute, then a cigarette) That is a big part of what these are for me. Sounds superficial, but I much prefer the full melt over the partial. Love the talon holes and edges fully rounded as apposed to the BIG finish style...does nothing for the performance I guess but..that is a big part of what attracted me to the brand.

I came in loving the Hearts, just wanted an ASH-1..saw a SAR6 LE and was hooked, figured the SAR6 and a Basic 8 would be all that I needed, maybe a SAR3 or 4 for good measure...happened on the 55's...need one of those as well...then I saw the Fusions, fell in love all over again...the saga continues. Watched the exchanged when I had the funds, the NMFSH was the first to come up that I wanted...I know you have to be quick sometimes around here..yanked the trigger..by no means do I regret it. I just need about a dozen models and still will want more..

Resigned to the fact that im in for the long haul and always seem to prefer the disco'ed older stuff, in most things, not just for the sake of..usually truly like the designs better..Ive learned w/ other brands and other hobbies, the hunt is really half the fun as well as a great way to meet and deal w/ other enthusiasts..

Oh yea, Im in NE PA, transplant from LI NY. (Lived in CO for a few years ) Worked in Manhattan for many years..

Porkthump... As far as I know, the only fusion steel heart with the NM treatment were the 1" longer NMFSHs. There may be some rare show piece that we released... But good luck with that! :D

I had asked the shop a while ago if they could add the NM treatment to a knife, and was told that it can't be done after the fact. Doesn't mean they don't have an HH blank or standard FSH blank sitting in the shop that you could ask them about. You might get lucky!

Good luck on your quest Porkthump!!! :D

:D

An inch longer..? Holy smoke..what was the stock thickness on those?

Thank you, Foo. I will ask. Planning to call Monday asking about being charged international shipping on both, the CGAD and the Trash1..checked order status, noticed over the weekend the charges,,hopeful its an oversight and not an initiation fee..:)

I spoke w/ a member who is having a satin finish and I thought, a full NM treatment done to a blade he already has, I could be wrong...was surprised by the fact it could be done at all after heat treat, which is making me think it was more than just the satin finish..Ill have to check my PM's..

HH blanks..? man...dont get my hopes up..I will check..I called seconds on one that just went thru' the exchange, status still shows on hold..I dont have high hopes..and w/ the little time Ive been on board..already realizing these dont come up often...The SFNO is looking better and better, gonna need one of those anyway...at least one..
